for return... damaged vs not as described?

I have a customer who wants to return a leather purse.   Even though I listed it and described it as used, I also said it could be nwot, because it's in such good condition.  And it is!  But she said there are marks that show it's been used a lot...even though they don't really show up on pictures.  She sent pictures, and I do see a couple marks that I missed, and leather conditioner will take them out.  But this bag has definitely NOT been used a lot!   She'd like a return, even though I don't take returns.  She said she messaged me before opening a SNAD.  She also said she bought the purse because "I said it's in such good condition, it could be nwot". She claims it's not a remorse buy. Anyway, I'll take it back. I'm  thinking of suggesting she ask  for the return under "damaged" and not as  a SNAD.  I suggested that her, and she messaged she'd do whatever I suggest.  I guess the bag and return can fall under both categories for return, but I don't know the implications of either, for my account.  Please give opinions and suggestions. It kills me to pay for return shipping when I did sell the bag as used.  TIA    (Boy...I've had a heck of a month on eBay)

@jimw1776

Your mistake was in describing the item as "could be NWOT."

You should just accept the return and pay return shipping.

I think the lesson is to always under-describe the item and let the buyer be pleasantly surprised instead of the other way around.

"damaged" IS Not As Described.

There are only two reasons for a return, "remorse" (I don't like it or found a cheaper one) or Not As described (wrong item, broken, damaged in transit, doesn't match description)

So unless you described it as damaged it's Not As Described.

From the details you posted it is absolutely NAD and yes you will have to pay return shipping.

Any of the following (with arrows) would be "not as described" and count equally against you. You MUST accept the return and pay return shipping. The buyer is entitled to a full refund.

As others have said you need to accept the return even though it irritates you to pay the shipping cost back that's all part of the business. It arrived not to the customers satisfaction so you are required to accept a return. Sell it to someone else.

I have many items that are used, and I list them as used.   But if they are in such good condition, they could be NWOT, or...if they look like new, and maybe used briefly,  I've said that in my description. How many times have we bought something, took the tags off, and never worn/used it?

I have sold this way for many years, and I've never had an issue, or had anyone comment on it.  But I have wondered about wordiness.  Personally, I don't buy items that are under described, because, while I'll ask questions, it gets tedious..."A size Large varies w/ manufacturers...what are measurement, please"  I tend to get descriptive, because I don't want to take returns., and I've gotten many messages from buyers thanking me for my full descriptions.    So,  what to do? lol.  Ty for your comment, though.  I love this site
