Here's a suggestion and we'll see if Ebay pays any attention to these posts. I have had a number of fixed price items end with an offer on them. It's real simple The item is ending and I'm busy and some for some unknown reason the buyer thinks they have to wait until the very end to make the offer. Well the item ends and I missed a nice offer. Why doesn't Ebay just keep a fixed price item open that has an offer on it until the offer counter offer process is complete? Simple fix that I know would bring in many sales. Hopefully I'll get some feedback from Ebay on this.

There's no need for listing extensions. eBay already has a simple fix for that: "Good until canceled" duration.

eBay doesn't pay any attention to these posts. Moderators edit or remove posts if a violation of the community guidelines is reported. Blues come in to answer specific questions if they are "called" by a discussion-board member to enter a thread. Other than those two situations, it's a member-to-member pier support community.

WHY? first people wait to offer.BECAUSE they think you will take something lower..BECAUSE it is ending soon...
second...either accept it or don't.....YOU get a message and YOUR listing is there to sell..right?..So YOU should be on top of it....accept or decline or counter...YOU DO!.... and yes those are caps....
you will find they offer...and either they get it for their price or it ends...they really don't want a counter offer....they are hoping YOU want a sale before you have to list and wait again....
if ebay had to worry about every little thing that some want and expect..bla bla bla....YOUR listings...YOUR sale or not... it is on you....

An ineresting idea, but I think most buyers want just the opposite: to be able to have the offer expire in 12 hours rather than 48.
I wouldn't be surprised if those are the buyers that are making your Best Offers in the last few hours.

There is an auto accept/decline feature for best offer so there`s no reason to miss a sale.

The Buying Board has had threads that want to be able to cancel the offer in sometimes as little as an hr or two!

I recently had a choice of how long I wanted my offer to stand, I can't remember which end I was on, seller or buyer, but I do remember I had to check a box, like 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours for how long I wanted the offer to be available. I could have been a buyer sending an offer, and that's how I long my offer was good, or I could have been answering a message with a personal offer to the message sender, and I was selecting how long the offer was valid for. Either way, perhaps I was a test on that transaction. I really liked the ability to choose, no matter which side it's on.
When I'm a buyer sending an offer on an item that ends before 48 hours, Ebay makes it very clear my offer expires with the listing multiple times.

I understand what you are saying. You may be out doing some necessary things that are the other part of your life besides eBay. Just relist the item, if the buyer really wants it they will make the offer again.

I've had this happen also. I just contacted the buyer that made the offer and told them the item ended before I could respond, are they still interested? If yes, I re-list and ask them to re-send the offer and I'll accept.

There is a VERY EASY way to fix your problem. Use auto accept. Buyers love it as they don't have to wait around for two days twirling their thumbs for you to reply, AND you get to do whatever you want without being home when the listing ends.

Exactly! I would also think that when that buyer is twirling their thumbs......they are also looking elsewhere to buy the item they want. I have read so many times here that the seller finally gets around to accepting the offer and the buyer asks to cancel once the offer is accepted.
