finding items on ebay ....is anyone else having issues ___ both as seller and buyer

not sure about anyone else but lately i am finding it more stressful and aggravating to find either comparable for sale or just items to buy . here are a few things i have noticed , and these were not single events but rather on going and tried with a wide variety of item , so this is not just with a single item .

first if an item is misspelled a lot of the time i get random useless search returns ( this can include single letter typos spacing no dash etc...)

second the filters they have make no sense , example i have bought and sold rolexs for years and there filters for rolexs are useless as most of there terms do not reflect what people use( utterly useless almost and extremely frustrating )  .... been in the rolex business and selling since the mid 90's

how are sellers and buyers suppose to find what they need when it appears to be getting harder to find item not easier......... and these item specifics are a joke as most are irrelevant to my items ...........

When I type "Rolex Watch" in the search box, I am automatically switched to the "Wristwatches" category and the filters I see are as follows:

  • Department (men's, women's, unisex, etc.)
  • Case Size
  • Brand (Rolex, Seiko, Bulova, etc.)
  • Model (Rolex Daytona, Rolex Oyster, etc.)
  • Type (Wristwatch is automatically selected, obviously)
  • Band color
  • Band material
  • Dial color
  • Condition

Followed by the usual location, price, format, shipping, etc. filters.

The current search feature of this site seems to be always in "search" mode. It needs to be set to "find" mode

eBay's search will attempt to correct obvious keyword spelling mistakes; if a search term finds few or no results, but a slight variation finds many, eBay may automatically substitute the variation (but should also provide a link to the original search in case that is what you want).

Most special characters are not searchable, and are treated interchangeably when searching: dashes, dots, underscores, and hyphens can be substituted for each other or other single space special characters (like an actual single space) when searching.

If you are trying to search for an exact term but getting substitutes or spelling corrected versions, try putting one of your search terms in quotes -- that should prevent eBay from making keyword substitutions, though it will also prevent eBay from automatically changing the category, so you may have to choose the category manually yourself.

If you have a specific search that you are finding difficult to execute and you want some suggestions, please provide some details about what you are searching for and how you are searching for it, or what sorts of results you want to filter out. May searches can be refined by minor alterations of keywords, category or filters.
