This has been confusing me for a while now. Why is eBay's logo spelled "ebay", when their policy page says "eBay is always spelled "eBay." It's never spelled "Ebay," "e-Bay," or "ebay." (https://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/everyone-ebayipuse.html#) A while back, somebody told me that their policy page was wrong. I don't really know what to believe now. Anyone know which is correct?

It's ebay.
On ebay motors, it's ebay.
On the NBA promo, it was Ebay. Which doesn't work well when all white!!

Ebay when it is the first word, starting a sentence. Then it's eBay when the word is within the body of the sentence. And that's it for me! No ebay from my fingers, ever.

It says eBay everywhere except the logo.

I know! It seems so weird to type "ebay." It just doesn't feel right.

Legally it's eBay.
When they last changed the logo style they dropped the capital B for marketing purposes but as you can see at the bottom of the page (copyright notice) and any other legal document it's eBay.

Didn't you do this thread a few months ago? I know somebody did, but we all know how the search here works.
Yes, I saw this same topic recently, but I think it may have been on another board?

Wiki says it's "eBay"
(except in it's URL)

The correct spelling is FreeBay.

If you go to create a listing and in the description you type ebay it will show the word as misspelled. If you type in eBay, it is not shown as incorrectly spelled. That is why I figured eBay was the correct spelling.

It used to be eBay and some years ago ebay changed it to be more in tune with the trends of the times and, of course, were too cheap to hire someone to update the policy pages.
I was taught that to use capitals was a sign of respect and I was pleased when ebay went to all lower case since I hadn't respected them for quite awhile.

The lower-case 'b" is only in the logo. Everywhere else, eBay themselves uses the upper-case B. You can reference the links at either the top or bottom of this page.
