ebay suggestion box.

ebay needs a "ebay suggestion box".      if they dont want a lot of crap in the box just make it so only sellers that have been on ebay for a number of years can put in suggestions.  (this way we could help ebay get better and if enough sellers are telling them something they could implement it)

At eBay, we appreciate comments from our members on our products and services. But we have a long-standing policy of not accepting unsolicited suggestions, ideas, or proposals.

We have this policy to avoid misunderstandings because new products, services, and features developed internally by eBay employees might be similar or even identical to a member's idea.

so no suggestion box.  ebay does not even want to here from us....WOW!

There are 180 million people registered with eBay worldwide--28%, or just over 52 million, are registered in the United States. Encouraging members to submit suggestions would be a logistic nightmare, not to mention a waste of time and resources.

Not exactly. They draw a distinction between unsolicited ideas (i.e. for new things) and comments on their existing pages. The former are not welcome because it opens them up to legal headaches if someone claims that a new feature of eBay was based on something they suggested, and then they're on the hook to pay royalties or some other compensation.

The latter (comments on their existing pages) is different. There is usually a comment link somewhere on most eBay pages that lets you send in comments, criticisms, bug reports or whatever, a means of sending them feedback (Har!) on that page as it exists now. I can tell you from my own experience that you usually do not hear anything from them in reply, but once in a while you might. What is it that you want to tell them?

Read your Terms Of Service agreement and especially the Seller Terms Of Service agreement.  There is standard boilerplate statements that state, in legalese, that eBay does not solicit information or suggestions regarding changes to the operations of the site, information or suggestions for new features, or any other type of suggestion or information from it's members.  Anything so submitted will be ignored or considered a gift and not subjet to any renumeration (payment) of any kind, nor to any acknowledgement of any kind.

They don't want our suggestions.  Unless the solicit them from us in very controlled and limited fashion, such as focus groups, where the participants sign away their rights to any suggestions made and agree to never talk about them forever.

It's standard business practice.  No business wants to release a new product or product enhancement and then have to fight off dozens or hundreds of lawsuits from wannabe inventors claiming it was their idea and the business stole it and used it without permission and now owns these wannabes a ton of money.

So you agree to the long-standardized statements in the Agreements that eBay does not accept such suggestions, does not recognize them (since they don't accept them) and doesn't not agree to any compensation for any such suggestion (which they didn't accept and don't recognize as having used as a basis for some new feature or site change).

Do they monitor the boards and general Internet chatter about them?  Probably (they listen to trader rumors, why not member comments?), but would never admit that anything they did was ever triggered or based on any specific comment or suggestion by any specific user or group of users.  Any similarity is purely coincidental and not subject to any recognition or compensation by eBay to anyone.  Period.

I would hope they listen and at least keep a finger on the pulse of those members most likely to influence someone else to sell/not-sell on the site.  One "Aw-S**t" can wipe out dozens of "AttaBoy!"s.... and one disgruntled individual seller can influence a LOT of their friends, family, co-workers, and folks who follow them on the web to NOT sell on eBay.  After all, one tale of how someone got ripped off for thousands of dollars is a lot more interesting then the hundreds of transactions for $5-$10-$50 that occur every day, right?

If you read the whole link that was posted there is in fact a place to submit suggestions if you still want to after reading the policy.

I was invited to join an eBay focus group last year and occasionally they send me stuff to give my opinion on. Not quite a suggestion box, but it is at least a place for a user’s voice to be heard.

Numbers, numbers , numbers......Facebook has xxx users, but they include someone who signed up and never used the service, or used it for a month and never again.....the number is just a number that should be taken with a grain of salt.....just like eBay's registered customers whom are not members. Members have decision making powers in an organization and input into finances and  direction.

How many times could a person read "Go back to before when 'ease of use' must have been the policy before you broke everything....and then fire the person that broke it." before that person loses their mind?

Even taken with a grain of salt, the numbers are still astronomical in regard to reviewing suggestions.

If you'd like to offer an example of a publicly traded corporation that allows its customers "decision making powers" and "input into finances and direction," I'd like to see it. Shareholders, maybe.
