ebay "lost" my item that got sent to them for authentication - will they refund me?

On todays episode of "What can ebay screw up?", they apparently "lost" the pair of shoes i sent in to get authenticated. They happily said the buyer would be refunded but conveniently didnt say anything about me getting my money. 

Will i still get my money? Will ebay ever stop screwing everything up?

My $1200 bag was sent to eBay Authenticator. No evidence of shipping tot he buyer now buyer says they received empty box and I’m out the $1200 for the bag

If the tracking shows ebay has received it, the buyer should get a refund and the seller should keep the funds from the sale.

Having received a number of bags from the eBay Authenticator I find it hard to believe your buyer got an "empty box" from them. Don't understand "no evidence of shipping to the buyer".  Something else is afoot here....
