ebay members unable to bid

I have received messsages from 2 ebay members stating they are unable to bid.  Both members state they receive errors that their account isn't linked to PayPal.  Anyone else having this problem?

There are two solutions to this  "problem": They can link their ebay and PayPal accounts (see link below); or you can remove the Site Preferences option that requires it.  It's under My eBay > Account tab.

Both members claim their paypal is linked to ebay.  I only accept papyal so I don't want to remove the site preferences on my account.   Any other suggestions?

Maybe try sending them a invoice and see if they can pay that way.

Probably some glitch.

Paying is not the issue, the problem is they are unable to place a bid on active auctions.

It's the site preferences block that is causing this. If you want them to be able to bid, remove the block.

While that block is good for blocking some scammers ... it also blocks guests and other buyers who don't wish to link their accounts for whatever reason.

eBay checkout allows buyers without a PayPal account to use their credit cards ... processed through PayPal. Your payment comes through PayPal.

I dropped the PP block a long time ago.  But then again, I hardly ever run auctions ... 99% of my listings are BIN w IPR.

The buyers have PayPal accounts and are linked.

Unless you have a lot of sport bidders I suspect this block is costing you more bidders than it's saving. Buyers can now check out through Ebay without having a Paypal account. You still get your money in Paypal.

The only reason to use this block is if you sell in a high risk sport bidding category like gaming systems or cell phones.

My eBay>>Account>>Site Preferences>>Buyer Requirements

Uncheck "Buyers without a PayPal Account" (or something to that effect)
