ebay automated assistant is a JOKE

I've been trying to talk with a person from ebay for three days with no luck, its like it wants you to give up.

maybe here someone would be able to help me, I've shipped an item to a buyer with the correct address and uploaded the tracking number right away, few days later the item returned to me, the tracking says item unable to deliver, now my question is if i have to refund the buyer the full amount of money or minus the shipping cost?

If you bought an item and you did not get it and and tracking showed it was returned to the seller, what would you expect as a refund?

You are assuming it is the "correct" address.  But sellers are required to ship to the address the buyer gives un on their payment if we want to qualify for Seller Protection.  

 

Now the buyer could have made a mistake on the address they gave you.  Your first move is to contact your Buyer and ASK them nicely to confirm their ship to address and explain the issue you have.

 

When the item was returned to you, there was some kind of a note or sticker on the package that told you why it was returned to you.  Was it an address issue, postage, damage, etc.  What reason did the carrier give for returning the package?

 

If your buyer simply made a mistake with the ship to address, offer to allow them to repurchase the item in Ebay and remind them to make sure the ship to address is the same.  

 

Also let them know that you will refund their original payment LESS the original shipping you charged them and non refundable fees.  That would be FVFs on the amount you keep plus the 40 cent fixed per transaction fee.  Make sure you are polite and professional about how you tell them this.  Had you of made the mistake, of course you would have covered it.  But since it is a buyer error [if it actually is] you should not be made to food the bill.

 

As to Customer Service.  it simply is not as hard as you make it out to be to contact someone.

 

On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.

I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.

If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.

If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.
