eBay, you need a new button for ending listings early for GTC

I believe we need a new box to check on ending listings early.

A box for canceling listings early to avoid them rolling over as GTC again.

Item no longer for sale, lost, broken or error in listing don't cut it now when I end my listings early do to GTC.

Ending early due to GTC! Let's have the truth, it wasn't lost, stolen, broken, or an error. Love that we all have to cancel them right at their golden minutes at the end, especially auctions.

Messes with your snipers who will wonder where the auction they were planning to hit in the last few minutes went.

Don't make snipers mad when they see tons of auctions disappearing.

JK, sort of, we need a new box, again 🙂

Why would you end the auctions early? GTC does not apply to them.....

I guess you are talking about ending GTC listings before they automatically relist (not auction listings).

To end GTC before they automatically relist I use the upper left corner box "action" and then upper box "action > end".

When I open the GTC listing I ended it shows ".... is not available..." . The only time it shows item broken, missing, etc.... is when I end an auction, which I rarely do.

The "not available" mention seems appropriate to me.

But this is just my opinion 🙂

There is no such thing as a GTC auction, so half of what you posted makes absolutely no sense to me.

That aside ...

A GTC listing that was ended by the seller is "no longer available".

No one can buy it.

Because it is no longer available.

If it were still available, the seller would not have ended it.

(BTW, if you end a listing from the bulk actions menu in the Seller Hub, you are not even asked for a reason. It simply ends as "no longer available")

eBay already has a few ways to do this easily.  If you manage your active listings from the active listing page You can sort from the "all states" box to filter by ending today and or ending within the next hour.

Also in the seller hub under the "listings" section you have a filter to see just listings ending today.

Once you are in any of these subsets you can use the check boxes for whatever listings you want to end or use the check all box and then end them.

Good Luck Selling!

Yes, I agree .... when a GTC Listing is ended early by the seller so that it does not automatically renew ......... the buyer should NOT be shown a message that says This Listing was Ended because the Item is No Longer Available.

Some more accurate reason should be shown to the buyer ..... something like .....

This Listing was Ended because the Seller did NOT want the Listing to Automatically Renew for Another 30 Days.

You could just hit the relist button. Then the watcher will get a message stating that the item was relisted.

Sellers should not have to give eBay a reason for why they are ending listings.  Do you really want to give eBay more control over your actions?   There could be dozens of reasons 25 million different sellers have for ending a listings.  The current "this item is no longer available"  Is all a buyer needs to know.

I see no reason for eBay to provide additional reasons for a seller to choose as a reason to show a buyer why it is not available any longer.

Better than that, it would be easier if there was an option to not automatically relist the item at the end of it's monthly term. Or maybe, at least, to not automatically relist if it will incur an insertion fee (which, if not, could be just cause for a class-action lawsuit).

Ending listings early manually because of rudely imposed policy (GTC) will be a huge inconvenience. I'm planning on doing it {selectively) starting today to see how well I adapt and if I am able to streamline the process. If I get too annoyed by doing this, I'll try something else. One way or another eBay will not get their way with me with this truly ridiculous policy.

This already exists.

Go to -> Active Listings.

Sort by-> Ending soonest.

Go to-> box on upper left.

Click the box and all the listings on that page will be chosen

You can unclick any boxes you want to leave up

Go to-> Actions

Choose->End.

All the listings you chose will end and go to your Unsold Listings  for 90 days.

You can relist them at any time.

Watchers will see the item as Ended.

But watchers watch, and they already had 29 days to actually buy.

You missed my point entirely.

I am concerned with the message that the buyer sees at the top of the page of the original Fixed Price Listing that was ended early. It is totally misleading message.

When a GTC Listing is ended early by the seller so that it does not automatically renew ......... the buyer should NOT be shown a message that says This Listing was Ended because the Item is No Longer Available.

That implies that the item has either been sold or that it has been broken, etc.

And that gives the buyer a good reason to lose interest in the item and to delete the item from his / her Watch List.

In fact, even though the listing was ended early, the item IS still available in my inventory .... all the buyer would have to do is send me a message and ask me to re-list it for him / her, and I would be happy to do so.

Otherwise, the item stays in my inventory until I am ready to re-list it.

And that is why a more accurate reason should be shown to the buyer ..... something like .....

This Listing was Ended because the Seller did NOT want the Listing to Automatically Renew for Another 30 Days.

@flipper2flipper

You're not getting it. The listing is OVER because you ended it. If a buyer wanted it they would have bought it. When you decide to put it back up for sale new buyers will come. They will watch and once again they will purchase if they want it, otherwise you will then again end it. You can also just allow it to stay listed by not ending it.

That is a pretty strong statement and not ly true.  There can be MANY reasons for ending a listing.  Lost, damaged, inventory mistake, donated it, gave it away, selling it on another site, problem with the listing, etc. etc. etc.

At the moment in time that you end the listing, it is no longer available for sale.  That is NOT a lie, it is a fact.  The seller at some point in the future may decide to repost it or they may not.  Seller choice.

It would have been the same " this item has been relisted message"  a watcher would see if you had a regular 30 day or whatever time frame you might have chosen in the past and relisted an item that didn't sell. What does it matter why it was ended now if they can easily see you have relisted it?  Or is it you just want to prove a point to ebay that your listing didn't sell due to being good til canceled?
