eBay will you be adjusting seller stats due to all this inclement weather?

I live in eastern PA & in the last 3 weeks we've been hit with Nor'Easters 3 times.  The one today (3-21-2018) still isn't finished and it's almost 4:30pm our time.  Been snowing since early yesterday evening & we were just sent a weather update that the snow bands have increased for our particular area & will be dumping up to 2-3 more inches per hour likely until mid evening today.  The mid & western parts of our state are lucky, their snow is well on the way to being stopped & they weren't hit nearly as hard when they did get snow.  We already have 10" where I live & growing very fast.  There was no way I could get out to post a USPS parcel select package today (which USPS does not pick up if it is the only package & in my case it is) & at this rate I do not expect the plows to come thru until late tomorrow, which is usual for our township...they aren't known at all for their prompt response to snow removal, especially deep snow.  So, in essence, I might just be late shipping this which will be charged as a deficit to my selling standards though it's not my fault.  Please help & remove late shipments strikes for areas affected by yet another very large snow storm.  Thank you!

All of these storms were forecast well in advance. eBay will probably not make any exceptions for late shipping.   You should have put your store on vacation or revised your handling time.

May I ask , Why you pick Parcel Select ? If you will look at your shipping calculator, you'll find that most of the time USPS 1st class is cheaper and USPS Priority is exactly the same price within a peny or two. If you're shipping these methods, you wouldn't have to worry about your pick ups. Of course you could live where I do and have psycho mail people and so you have to take them to the post everyday <^*^>

Stay warm out there…

I live in Maryland and we are experiencing the same whether conditions.  I called ebay so that it would be noted for performance-related purposes.  As a long time seller, I can say that ebay has always removed "late shipment" information due to severe whether conditions---it may take 2-3 calls but they always come thru.  Also, Post Offices are closed today.  With regard to the comment that you should have activated your vacation settings---I disagree.  Even though weather reports warned of the storm, these reports are sometime wrong and storms can miss an entire area.  For Maryland, they miscalculated the amount of snow.  They originally said 1 to 2 inches----an amount that most businesses can operate with; but, we are now told it could be 8 or more inches in southern Marryland (where I reside).  Because whether reports can be inaccurate, most business wait until shortly before the storm is scheduled to arrive before shutting down.  FYI --- The Federal Government, Schools, Airports, Buses, etc. didn't begin reporting shutdowns until 5:00 a.m. today (and this time is after the snow fall began.

I had a similar situation after seeing several "slow shipping" dings on my account and posted here:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Warning-for-sellers-check-your-dashboard/m-p/28270672#M1174186

@Anonymous responded in post  11  of the above thread that weather conditions are (or should be) taken into account and if you get dinged, customer service should fix it.

And in fact, we in Boston are also about to be hit (yet again) with the 4 nor'easter in 3 weeks. You guys are a few hours ahead of us with respect to getting hit first.

This is incorrect.

ETA: POLICY:

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/seller-performance-policy/seller-performance-def...

What kinds of defects can be removed, and how?

We automatically remove defects in certain situations, including where we find the buyer was at fault, if the problem was caused by an eBay site issue, or if there was an issue outside of your control like shipping service delays, or items being delayed because of an extreme weather event.

If you've had a defect removed for any of the reasons mentioned above, please note it can take up to two days for you ratings to be adjusted.

The 3rd "official" nor'easter we were supposed to get hit with never appeared hit & had everyone rescheduling things, closing schools, etc the day before the storm was to be here...that was late last week. But out of the 4 predicted we did get 3 & this one is the worst. We were predicted to get 5-8" but it is well over a foot as I write. So yes, weather reporting is at time quite unreliable. However, like everyone else around here, most places/people didn't do anything prior to last night because the prior storm report caused havoc & unnecessary closures/delays. However, in my case, this sale was finalized not long before our post office closed & I just didn't have time to get there beforehand.

Not me, shipped a item to Maine, guy got 24" of snow, and package still sitting at post office, He opened a case for being not delivered, less then 2 minutes, he got his money back and I got a ding. All ebay had to say is "sorry" but his zip code wasn't in their watch zone. I'm out $15, MAIN reason I won't do guarantee shipping, ebay doesn't have your back

If you want to take a chance on getting late shipping dings and then spend time on the phone with CS on the chance that they will acknowledge your situation and remove it, fine that's your choice.  But it takes a lot of time, it doesn't always work, and it's SO much easier to just take some preventive measures with a few clicks to revise your handling time.
