Has anyone had the experience of something selling twice. I've had this happen two times now. eBay did not remove them from active listings. Do we need to confirm our sold items are removed when sold?
Fortunately the first time I had a duplicate of the listing I was keeping for my use. But fulfilled the purchase with my item. This time I do not have a duplicate and will still be charged the 'fee' plus having to explain and refund the buyer.
Anyone have this experience and have a remedy?
Thank you

It's a long known "glitch" that eBay never admits to. You sell an item, and months down the road, it sells again. For this to happen like this more than once, be SURE you are not accidentally doing something like entering quantities wrong, or pushing buttons and relisting something that has sold.
In any event, eBay will NOT admit fault and will blame you for the listing errors. So you either need to audit your inventory vs listings every few months or figure a way to smooth over these errors. Cancelling for "out of stock" dings your account and does affect your account standing.

@1896schoolhouse We used to have that same thing happen , but not in a while. When we issue a refund, we get the Fee refunded minus the $.30 transaction fee. I would just explain the situation to your buyer and apologize on behalf of ebay. I would contact ebay via chat or facebook for business private message, and document that you are disputing the defect to your account for being out of stock. A few years ago, ebay was changing listings to Free Shipping that were not created as Free. We sell larger items that weigh 20 to 30 pounds and ship in a 20x20x20 box. So that was fun. Best of Luck to you!

It looks like you may have used the "Sell Similar" to list this item and the item you copied from had the inventory box pre-filled with "2"
It has happened to me before, and I only caught it when I proofread the listing (viewed after publishing) and saw the quantity box that is clearly visible on the sold listing of your item......
I am not saying this is what may have happened, but it has happened to me when I used the Sell Similar option when creating a new listing..it is easy to miss on this 'new' listing tool

Just for future reference...when you sell an item, your Paid & Shipped line looks something like this image.
NOTE the (1 Available) after the quantity....that means there is STILL 1 MORE ITEM in the Listing....
If it was originally 2 in the listing and 1 sells, it would say (1 Available)
Look back at your Paid & Shipped, and it probably has (0 Available) from your most recent one, and (1 Available) on the November 30th Sale....
This may help prevent this from happening in the future.....

A few times I have sold a listed item via another source. I go in and delete the listing from Ebay and Ebay will move it to my unsold listings. I then go and delete it from my unsold listings. A couple of times I have forgotten to remove the listing from my unsold listings. If it gets buried in the listings when I go to relist the unsold listings the deleted listing might get relisted. Another variation was once I closed a listing and for some reason made a copy of it and did some changes and listed the copy. The original remained in my unsold and got relisted. I happen to catch this one a few days later when I was examining my listings.

The only time I have had this happen it was my fault. I used sell similar and forgot to change the quantity.
