I just got this message from eBay while trying to send another member eBay's email address The dumb system can't even recognize eBay's own contact information.
We can't send your message because it looks like it includes a phone number or email address. We review the messages that you send on eBay. Repeated attempts to send messages that include contact info could lead to restrictions on your account.
So now my account has a warning strike against it, so if I send anything else that this dumb paranoid system takes as trying to sell off eBay, I'll get my account whacked even more than it's already being whacked. eBay needs too get a grip.

I believe you're advising the OP to jam their foot even further down into the muck.
It's doubtful that there's even a "strike" given for such a thing.
If one of ebays infamous CS has to try and deal with an issue that their script reading doesn't cover,
the bull in the china shop just might be awakened. The dog is sleeping now, leave him alone.
The situation is worth at best an eye-roll, and chalked up as another of ebays nonsensical policies.

There ARE indeed stokes for this and they do count against the member. EBay is currently and actively looking to rid their site of members who are including any of site connection or personal information. Many members have already been removed.
The OP should call and get this violation removed since this is an innocent one and obviously directing another member elsewhere on eBay and not of site.
These are serious violations. This is relatively new and ebay is using bots to discover them but the do have a dedicated team who then issues the violations. They should have seen that this was innocent, but you should call to be sure there is no violation

Um, this email address block has been in place from the beginning: It blocks every email address, and does not have any exceptions for eBay email addresses.
It is not new, started because of the current campaign.

Apparantly their bot thinks ANY url, even one on their OWN SITE is an invitation to an off site sale.
Bad Bots are KILLING Sales
This Communication Roadblock is a prime example of eBay's brain-dead programming. Their refusal to acknowledge it's complete idiocy is an example of their continued stupidity.

You've been here long enough to already know that you cannot send personal addresses. Surprised you had the need to start a thread about it as there are already many threads of the same.

But maybe repeated observations will be noted by eBay management that their Bots aren't doing their jobs and are not targeting properly. It has become overly excessive over the past few months.

I was gonna put in "magical mystery tour"
But then I see a girl with a "sock monkey"
And as you know, it's all about the monkey.
Paul should have let the girl keep the bass.

I can see ebay's point of view, but dang...
You just want to say "happy birthday" to a member.
Or reach out to help a seller with problems.
But no, ebay wants no contact.
And in the same breath, they say work it out with the buyer.
Can't talk before the sale... bad ebay.
But you can talk after the sale goes south, and you get a defect.
Hour and a half on hold, 6 different CS reps... all say.. we can fix that.
Well... I can't fix that, please hold...

Maybe a question for Trinton as to how people are suppose to supply eBay related information in the message system without getting strikes or accounts shut down. You know as well as me that if your account gets shut down for something like this, it will stay shut down, and you'll get the spiel...you violated eBay policy.

Then I guess it's new for me.

I can't even count how many times in the past that I sent members the URL to one of my listings, or to a created, special listing just for them.

The best part was that it didn't even have anything to do with selling something. The message only stated "Contact Trinton" That's all. Nothing else was in the message. It was simply a matter of giving them some eBay contact information. That's the sad thing about the whole issue. eBay has this site so twisted up that it makes them look stupid in the end.

I think the problem is that the OP didn't give the address for FB (or the twit) so they could ask the blues over there - you know, the ones who get paid money, not sandwiches - for help.
Oh well, what would one expect from a cutting-edge tech company?
Of course, just my 2 cents worth - your mileage may vary.
