Did you mean:

eBay's instructions for https are faulty!

eBay says, in part:  When you've confirmed that your host domains support HTTPS, find all uses of "HTTP" in your listings and replace them with "HTTPS".

WRONG WRONG WRONG!

If you do that then any listing that already has https://whatever will then read

httpss://whatever.

Should say :  Find all uses of "http:" in your listings and replace them with "https:"

No wonder eBay is so full of glitches.

List more, sell more. Goodwill that other, uh, stuff.

Feeling sleepy? There's an app for that.

Those are not instructions as to how to do it. They are saying the site you use must be a secure site and any site that is not secure you can no longer use. You cannot just add an "s" and make your own secure site.

That is not the problem I have addressed, which is that if you find/replace "http" with "https" and if any of your listings already have "https", then those listings will then contain "httpss" which will be an error.  If instead you find/replace "http:" with "https:" that will not happen as any instance of "https:" already in your listings will be bypassed.

I suppose I don't understand what you're getting at. An https doesn't need anything as it is already is an https. Not sure why you think you need to add the s if it already has it. Maybe someone else can help you out with this one.

Exactly.  So if you find and replace every instance of "http" with "https" your search will find "https" (if any already occur in your listings) and replace the "http" part of that with "https" resulting in "httpss".  We do not want that to happen.

That is why you must find replace "http:" with "https:"  The your search will ignore "https:" , leaving it unchanged, and all will be well.
