How many chefs are in the overcrowded eBay corporate kitchen these days, and at what point will they be satisfied with the number of fields sellers are to fill out in Music? We are now being invited to revisit and update our listings to include an album's COLOR. I can't remember the last time I bought or sold an album that was one specific color, minus the obvious Beatles "White Album" or Jay-Z's "Black Album." For most of us music sellers, we'll be checking the rather-pointless "Multicolor" box across the board. Is it really necessary?
Many of us are detail-oriented; I get that. Sometimes I'll include a disc's matrix runout and IFPI (manufacturing info) if it's a rarity and helps a collector make an informed choice, but if that were something required for every single listing -- on top of everything else eBay's asking for these days -- I'd be checking into the loony bin shortly afterward. So let's please consider "album color" as the final item specific and call it a day. 🙂

Sorry we will need to return that album since it was not described correctly. It is clear seafoam green and does not look like ocean blue. You do know there is a difference between a sea and an ocean, this is seafoam green.

Just out of curiosity, is eBay possibly asking for the color of the vinyl, rather than the color of the album jacket?
Colored vinyl used to be considered collectible; and some variations are considered to be quite rare.

One more SNAD reason coming up.

Good question! Vinyl color would make sense, but in this case the product is in the Music --> CDs category. My apologies for not including this in the original post. (I mostly sell CDs)
Hovering over the "?" icon within the "Color" field reveals the following:
"Main color of the product itself. If the product has multiple colors, enter the main or most dominant color in the open field first and then add the additional colors, separating the colors by a comma. If the product has multiple colors with no dominant colors, select "Multicolor." This doesn't include the product's packaging."
I generally fill out each and every field to keep the nagging at a minimum -- I get enough pestering from the in-laws as it is; why torture myself further? 😈 I also make sure to check the "don't remind me again" box, knowing full-well I will be invited to fill out a new and silly field in the future, once any new Item Specific is added to the equation.
Seems like the more work sellers put into their listings these days, the more it comes back to bite them. No good deed goes unpunished, as they say! 😬

So as a record seller you do not know that there are hundreds of records that have colored vinyl? In fact colored vinyl has become more popular today than ever.
OK, I see you updated your original statement. I believe some CD's also are colored. With that said you do not have to include a color. It is a choice.

ROTFL.
This is intended for the DISC color, not the COVER color.
Colored vinyl is hugely popular in the current reissue craze.
One of the albums by by favorite artist is available in five colors - black, red, yellow, blue and pink.

To "luckythewinner" -- I totally hear ya ! Asking for disc color indeed makes sense in the vinyl realm for sure! Definitely have seen tons of LP variants.
For CDs, though, it seems a bit silly 🙂 (That's where my rant was going but I forgot to mention Music--> CDs in the original post, which won't allow edits.)

When you fill out the THREE fields that are required.

Ha! Good point, slippinjimmy! Not too many required fields, thank goodness. Sometimes a seller just needs to vent. 😅
I had been getting a lot of reminders in my inbox about all the silly, excessive recommended stuff, even after checking all those "don't remind me again" boxes. So many things eBay emails us and 99% of them are clutter. Needless to say I will definitely be deleting such reminders from eBay from this point forward. (Speak of the devil -- just got another one of those "get an eBay MasterCard" messages. Relentless!)

Many of the new albums that are re-mastered and re-released 35+ years later, are indeed a fully colored 33 vinyl. And some stores get an "exclusive" color, etc (i.e. Target, Bestie Buy, Wally World, etc)
I can see for the newer stuff(s) why they would want the "color" of the vinyl. However, for the majority that we have listed, color is a non-event. And yes, the items specifics for media in general have now jumped the shark........every day a new email telling us to go tackle another 200 listings. Plah.

katzrul15, very true! I goofed in the original post by forgetting to mention this was about the CD category, as I can understand the recommendation for color when it comes to Vinyl, given the many variants. For CDs I make sure whenever possible to make note of remasters, re-releases, and exclusives. When I look at other sellers' listings for the same items, though, I usually think, "Okay, I have been wasting my time here with these extra details!" It's true -- I could get by with just the required stuff, with the trade-off being eBay's bots pestering me for more info...
🤖Exterminate! Exterminaaaaate! 🤖
The more I sell, probably the more I'll shrug this stuff off, like the seasoned pros I'm seeing here in this forum (some of whom are a bit on the aggressive side -- jeeeesh guys! 😆)
