Do not use this.  Not only is it exorbitantly expensive for your buyer, if they lose your package you are out of luck.  You will have to refund your buyer, not eBay.  Even if you can prove your package was received at the shipping hub.

If you want to ship internationally, just do it yourself.  Better for you and your buyer.

I always use First Class International (when I can) and offered that to international bidders who didn't want to pay the highest rate methods that GSP uses.

Now, I'm in Managed Payments and no longer have GSP. I haven't missed it.

Sadly this isn't an uncommon problem. I forget how long it has been since I have opted out. These situations are supposed to be covered, but eBay usually tries to shirk their responsibilities. If you haven't already it might be worth calling CS till you get someone that will help you.

Absolutely false. The buyer is refunded. The seller keeps the proceeds of the sale. The item goes to nowhere.

Only if the "lost item claim" is successfully put back onto the shoulders of the GSP/Pitney Bowes.   Often the seller gets stuck with the loss when not being able to get the GSP to accept responsibility.

I doubt that the a seller 'often' gets stuck refunding a buyer when there is tracking showing to the gsp center.  I won't say that it never happens but if for some reason Paypal or ebay isn't acknowledging that the gsp is responsible, the seller can usually get it straightened out.
