eBay Promoted Listing Ad Fee Not Refunded when you Cancel a Transaction.

For anyone using eBay promoted listings you are charged an ad fee based on the rate you set if the buyer clicked on the ad and the item sells.

I found out today if you cancel the transaction because the buyer asked you to cancel eBay dosn't automatically refund you the ad fee.

I have to imagine there are a ton of sellers that are due some credits.

@usa-ez-store

They automatically apply the credit on the next billing cycle.

Even if they didn't provide a credit on next month's bill you have to think of it like this. I put an ad in my local newspaper. A person reads the paper and contacts me about buying it but then cancels out at the last minute - I don't get a refund for the ad - they brought a buyer to your doorstep thru the advertising - they don't guarantee a sale.

2 different animals...The ad in the paper doesn't guarantee a sale, ebay does.

OP - You'll see the credit in your next invoice.

They are indeed different animals ... but eBay has never "guaranteed" a sale after the buyer wins an auction or clicks "Buy It Now".

Correct, the sale is not guaranteed. What eBay does offer is an automatic credit if the order is unpaid, cancelled or returned. You get an ad fee credit just as you would final value fees. Sellers should expect that credit until and unless eBay changes the policy.

It's not instant as some sellers think it should be, but it is automatic. You have to wait for the next billing cycle to see it.

Good night and good luck
