delivery confirm. vs signature confirm question

which would you guys use when shipping an item that sold for over 150 bucks ?

Personally, sig. confirm is a PITA to me per large objects  I would receive that won't fit in my home rr mailbox  ( my mail carrier would hold item at the p.o. ( over 15 miles away ) and I'd  have to drive there to sign for/get it.)

with DC he would usually just call me before he heads out on his route that the pkg. is to be delivered that day  and  leave in an inconspicious place on my driveway  and be done with it.

This item I sold is being delivered to a home address but I'm  just not used to resorting to dc or sc with  any items I've sold.

Thanks !

delivery confirm. vs signature confirm question

For sales under $750, you need only Delivery Confirmation for seller protection. Signature Confirmation is required on sales above that point.

While SC does have its advantages, in particular that the package cannot be left unattended at delivery time, it can also cause a big hassle for buyers who aren't home to sign for it (specifically, any adult at the delivery address can sign for it), forcing them to either schedule a redelivery or go and get it from the post office. As a buyer, you're certainly entitled to pay the seller extra for SC (I think it's around $2.35) if it will protect your delivery from porch theft, but I would not go hanging it on an outbound shipment that doesn't require it unless the buyer asks you to do so.

delivery confirm. vs signature confirm question

If you are going to require a signature, then you MUST mention this in your listing Description.   Since you apparently did not do so, you need to either skip it or check with your buyer first.  The buyer might think it's a great benefit, or they might find it to be a  huge hassle (due to their working hours, distance to the PO, whatever).

Despite the official $750 threshold, I'm uncomfortable using just regular tracking for items above $200 or $300, so I include the cost of Signature Confirmation in my item price or shipping cost, and I mention right in the listing description, "This item will be shipped with insurance and Signature Confirmation for your protection."  (Even though technically it's for my protection.)
