how do i create variations in my listings?  I never see the create variations tab when starting a new listing. I don't even see it if I go to someone else's listing that has listing variations and I used the cell now feature.

Am I using the wrong platform?

You have to use the Advanced version of the listing form, not the Quick version or the app.

It is not possible to change a listing that is already active.

Start a new listing, using the regular listing form, not the app.

If you see an option to add a subtitle to your listing, then you are already using the Advanced version.

If you are in the Quick version of the listing form, in the upper-right corner of there will be a link that says, "Change listing preferences."  After you click on that, the next page will have a different link in the upper-right corner: "Switch to business tool".  That's eBay's new name for the version that is most commonly called the "Advanced" listing format.

I have the box to use a sub title but no tab to do listing variations.

any idea how to make it show up?

Variations isn't a tab, it's a section on the form.  Most likely you are in a category that doesn't offer variations.

You have to start a brand new from scratch listing to make the option show up.

Not ALL of a category will support MV listing. It also has to be a sub category that supports them.

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

this is very frustrating.

I located a competitors listing that has variation. I created a new listing, I am using the advanced system ( i know this because i have the option to use a sub title and have been told by a previous poster that means its the advanced)  I  browsed  the categories and chose the exact same categories the competitor  used.

listing variations did not come up.

is there something i have to turn on ?

There is nothing separate to turn on.  Is the competitor based in the same country as you? The variations categories aren't the same in every country. Which category are you trying to use?

There's also a chainsaw parts & accs subcategory in "Outdoor power equipment."

I figured out what the problem is.  for some reason EBAY decided to create a good idea like variations and then limit it to such a capacity that its useless to many of us.  I found one category/sub category that I might be able to use that supports variations.   not one logical category that I would use supports variations.    I can use other tools and workshop equipment so I can use the variations function and then any person who limits their search to "chain saw parts and assc" wont see my listing with its clever variations.

why wouldn't it be supported over a broader selection?   thank you for your help.  (variations did not show up under your suggestion either)
