changing fixed price to auction on active listing

ANOTHER IMPROVEMENT BY EBAY!  I am being sarcastic. Why Why Why is it impossible to change an active fixed price listing to an auction listing? It's my listing. I could always do it before. Now I have to go through the

rigamarole of closing or canceling the fixed listing and relisting it as an auction, which possibly results in another fee for ebay. But whether that is true or not, it's a hassle. And an unnecessary one.

I've been on ebay a long time and everytime they make a so-called improvement or any change, it always appears to be to the detriment of the seller and to benefit of ebay's bottom line.

I would like to know the reasoning beyond their latest improvement. It is totally baffling to me. It makes my life more difficult and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

But I know my comments are useless. ebay does what it wants to do--and it's only consideration appears to

be what benefits it most.

@marpat

It is possible.  Look on your Active Listings page ... under the edit is a drop down list, and one of the options is "Change to auction-style".

Hi, i thought that's the way it's always been, that a fixed price format cannot be changed to auction style on the USA dot-com site. On some other countries' eBay, this is possible, just not here. But you are saying you've been able to change the format in the recent past?

@fashunu4eeuh. The quick link is just an easy way to send a fixed priced listing to an auction.   You are still charged for the new auction listing either way

I will check your solution out.

Also forgot to mention, that I don't understand why ebay won't let me have a fixed auction that

last 10 days, or even 30 days. Why does it alway have to be automatically relisted? What's the benefit of

that? And why don't I have a choice of how long I want my fixed price listing to run?

To me, as a long-time ebay seller, it just doesn't make sense.

@fashunu4eeuh   Ebay changed the policy in the last seller update, all fixed priced listings are now GTC

It was announced in the early spring seller update that GTC ( good until cancelled) will now be the only option on all listings tools for fixed priced listings.

If you do not want your item to relist then you will have to manually end it. Select end from next to the item to end it prior to it relisting. Or if you are using seller hub you can end multiple items by putting a check mark next to them and selecting end from top of the list. If you have watchers or sales from the listing then it's best to let it relist.

Early Spring Seller Update:
https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2019-early/index.html

Here's why ebay is doing this:

Also see the third post on this link for information about a new feature on seller hub that shows the exact start and end date time of GTC listings. I find this very helpful

I did this, but it does not work...  It just duplicates the listing, and puts the old one in "Ended". However, the new listing is NOT auction format, it is still in Fixed Price!  How do I get it to change to auction style??
