I have a customer who purchased a picture from my store; however, this picture is no longer available. I need to cancel the order. I have notified the customer that this item is no longer available. How do I cancel this through the system? We need to have the customer's original payment - credited/refund issued.

Find the order, click 'cancel' and use reason of 'out of stock', then follow prompts to give the refund.
Just a heads up, this place does NOT work well with people that do NOT have the item, in their hands. Cancelling for the reason of 'out of stock' is the kiss of death here and you will no longer be able to sell at all if this happens just a couple/few times.

Cancel the order as out of stock.
If your funds are still being held, you'll have to pay the refund if you don't have the avaliable funds.

As noted in the other post, you need to cancel, based on "Out of stock" and the buyer gets full refund.
You need to read the Help page about seller performance evaluation, to understand the serious impact that a few "Out of stock" transactions can have on your ability to sell and on your fees:

Refund will immediately come out of 'available funds' in a second...before the transaction goes through there.
If no 'available funds' in 3 days eBay will take the refund from your banking source.
Might not get a nice feedback and a 'ding' on your account.
I suggest if you have the item...ship it.
