When can we get the ability to list the items weight and the packaging weight separately.

So that when multiple items are purchased we can combine the item weights together but only add the packaging weight once.

for instance some of my light items may only weigh 6 oz but I have to put 1lb for the shipping weight to include the box etc. However if 4 are purchased it makes the shipping weight 4lbs in stead of 2.5lbs which makes a large difference international shipping. I believe this deters a lot of my international buyers.

Am I missing this functionality somewhere?

If you're missing something, so am I!

I began free shipping across the board because it just made life easier, this whole issue makes combined shipping a joke 😒😒😒😒

calculated shipping

0.9 ounces = weight of a 6x4x2 cardboard box
0.5 ounces = weight of one unit of merchandise
I would like to load those numbers separately and have the shipping calculator compute the shipping for multiple units.

I converted all of my listings to free shipping.
Increased the price to cover the shipping cost.
That eliminated many of the Unpaid Item cases.
Requiring Immediate Payment eliminated the rest of the cases.

So that you know the new Listing tool already has a place to put in the Item's weight which is different from the shipping weight.  You should really look over and read through some of the Combined shipping settings you have available to you in your account settings.

I would be more concerned with a box growing in size (on a multiple purchase) that exceeds one of the new USPS Surcharges for length or Dimensional weight considerations ...

On some my larger items I state "Combined shipping when economical" at the end of the Description and for good reason.  For long and wide items you would wind up having to use the longest item dimension, the widest item dimension then ADD the two heights to get the final box size and wind up potentially shipping a good amount of air.

What you are suggesting might work on small items but I think eBay would have a challenge doing the programming for that ...

Thanks for assuming I didn't look thru the settings. Maybe you have a newer listing tool not available to me?? However, I only have a PACKAGE weight and size to input. Maybe you can send a link or screenshot to help us.

Most of my items could fit multiples in the standard box size that I input for all products.  I rarely sell multiples of odd shaped items. I use free shipping on all domestic sales to avoid this but international shipping is hard for me to predict so I must use calculated. I ship anywhere.

The only combined shipping options available are combine all package weights and combine all item weights and subtract an amount. which creates the issues I spoke of in my first post.

As for EBay's programming limitations, that could be said for any function on the site
