so i sold an item on ebay on dec 11, 2018, that buyer asked me to ship to different address, and so i went ahead and did that. i have a tracking number and all says delivered to that address he asked me to send it to. i’m afraid i’m going to get a charge back or he’s gonna file a complaint about not delivering to the address on his paypal. i looked at his account and he has no feedback. the messages he sent me were on ebay also. i’ve been reading online about these kinds of scams and i’m afraid it’s going to happen to me. i linda just wanna be done with ebay and paypal and close accounts but i’m afraid the guy is gonna to scam me sooner or later.

By shipping to a different address, you lost all seller protection. Ebay and Paypal won't help you out if something goes wrong.

even if the address he sent me were in ebay messages? i thought ebay monitored them?

You need to know that you are only covered if you ship to the address on the Paypal payment, and nowhere else.
Having said that, don't worry about something that hasn't happened yet. Wait and see what happens. Hopefully you won't have any problems but don't just ship elsewhere like that in the future for your own protection.

That's not what Ebay monitors messages for. Sorry.

Not the best position to be in, but since this was almost 30 days ago you are most likely OK. Try not to worry about it until it happens. Worrying about things like this will only make your blood pressure rise. Until you have an issue, not worry about it.
Now just so you know for the future. If a buyer writes to you within the Ebay email system [M2M] and asks you to ship to another address, you will be covered in Ebay for Seller protection. Ebay does allow this.
However PP does NOT. You did lose you seller protection in PP when you ship to any other address than is on the PP payment.
But if they were to file a claim in Ebay for item not received [INR], they would lose if the tracking shows delivered to the zip code of the address in which they asked you to ship to.
Have you checked the tracking? Do you know when or if your buyer received the package?

So true. Hopefully all will be well for the OP.

This is not correct. Yes they lose seller protection in PP, but it is FINE for Ebay IF they seller received an email in M2M that stated the request for address change. So hopefully all will turn out just fine for the OP.
But Ebay WILL accept this address change and still cover the seller under Seller Protection for any INR that might get filed.

That is REALLY GOOD news. You are probably worrying about something that isn't going to happen. Just relax.
If they are going to file a claim in Ebay, they have 30 days to do so, so about another 10 days. But in PP, they have up to 180 days. But again, you are probably fine.
If anything happens, come on back and we will help you through anything that may arrise.

OP, this might help.
If you sell an item that is eligible for eBay Buyer Protection and the buyer filed an item not received claim with eBay on this item, you are eligible for eBay Seller Protection.

Ebay considers the request for address change in a M2M to be just fine. I understand what the policy says. This is one of those things they do that isn't published in the rules. It would be nice if they would as it would be easier for everyone, but this is Ebay's site and they get to do things there way.
I do understand and respect the confusion. But the OP is FINE with the Ebay rules and coverage.
If it is something that you feel very strongly about, it was discussed a couple weeks back or so on the Weekly Chat. You may want to look it up if you desire to have more information.

Mam, just to clarify sothat I can adjust my advice accordingly -
If a buyer requests a change of address in the member to member email, a seller is covered.
More importantly, ebay CS are aware of it and are abiding by it?
The latter about all these undocumented rules is what concerns me because ebay cs are usually clueless and unhelpful when a situation occurs.
So ebay will have your back?

A seller is covered in Ebay but NOT PP! That is important to realize.
Well are Ebay CSRs aware of it, that is a loaded question. It depends on the CSR you get. They are all too often not aware of many rules on Ebay. It is typically the luck of the draw when you have to call the call center for help. If they are a CSR that knows the rules, then yes they should be aware.
The ONLY seller protection on Ebay is in regards to a purchase that shows delivered to the zip code in which it should have been delivered in regards to INRs. Beyond that, Ebay does not offer any Seller Protection.
It is not a good idea for a seller to ship to a different address than is on the PP payment notification. When they do that they don't just lose Seller Protection on an INR that might get filed, they lose Seller Protection period in PP.
It is better, when a buyer needs to change the address to cancel the transaction for an Address problem or by the buyer's request and refund the buyer. Have the buyer update their information, repurchase and pay again with the proper address for shipping on the payment. Then everyone retains all the protections offered by both sites.

i’m afraid i’m going to get a charge back or he’s gonna file a complaint
Nothing has happened yet. There is nothing to do unless something does happen.
i’ve been reading online about these kinds of scams
If you had shipped to the address on his PayPal, he could still scam you. Just scam you a different way.
i kinda just wanna be done with ebay and paypal
Then just stop using them. But you cannot avoid the conequences of a scam by closing your accounts. All that does is change what those consequences will be.
i’m afraid the guy is gonna to scam me sooner or later.
That became a possibility as soon as you sold an item on eBay.
