Your eBay Account has been permanently restricted for submitting "invalid" documents.

Hello eBay community, my account was permanently restricted from eBay due to submitting "invalid" documents. Initially I received an MC011 restriction [Because I was getting a ton of sales on a listing more than usual] so I can verify myself in order to restore my account. Days later it was determined as invalid for whatever reason it was, I submitted my bank statement and my ID. 

I noted to eBay when submitting these documents that I LEGALLY changed my name in 2017 so my ID name and bank statement name did not match - since I had this bank account before 2017. So when they denied me I tried again CLEARLY stating this once more [Even displaying that the account number and everything is a perfect match] . Days later I get an email back saying "Your eBay Account has been permanently restricted".  

What exactly have I done to deserve this treatment? I was getting ready to take eBay seriously as one of my main income streams and now it got crushed for absolutely no reason in a matter of days. Why didn't they just get back to me on something to proof it even further? Instead they just jumped into conclusions that I was probably using someone else's identity. 

After this occurred - a representative told me to submit the documents again on the MC011 message I got but I don't know if this will do anything because these are two different suspensions that happened days apart. 

If there's any advice/help I can do to get this account back let me know, this was handled unfairly and I was done wrong.

Maybe I am underthinking this but they expect your name on your ID to match the one on your bank account. That's the main way they confirm your identity.

Why didn't you change the name on your bank account to match your new legal name before submitting this or even trying to sell online?

Sorry this happened to you but I under heard of anyone being allowed back on EBAY after their account was terminated.

The key is you LEGALLY changed your name.

After changing your legal name, you need to follow through so all your ID's and Accounts match your legal name.  eBay will interpret users wishing to use their Legal Name and their Previously Legal name at the same time as high risks.

Yes I should've done this beforehand agreed, but suspending me indefinitely? Cmon really? I really wish I can resolve this but I guess there isn't anything I can do.

I would "guess" eBay will not accept your documents until they all match your legal name. In my opinion you will get nowhere if you are not going to be able to submit matching name documents. You are "in a pickle" since you've already tried to submit document without matching names. Any chance you have will be contacting eBay for business on Facebook and see if they will work with you.

Thank you mybigsale - I'll be sure to do that, I agree that initially I should've known to do this beforehand but it was genuinely an honest mistake and I didn't know that eBay took measures like that, I feel like I shouldn't be persecuted over that. Thanks in advance!

When you changed your name did you also change the name on your bank account? It should not be difficult because even nowadays most women do this as a matter of course when they marry.

Having a formal name change would be even more important. I don't know about US banks but I am not allowed to deposit neither cash, nor cheques in my name, into my husband's Canadian bank account. (We haven't had the same name for over 50 years of marriage.)

And all your names must match.
If your name is John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith, you cannot have a bank account as John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith, a Managed Payment account as J J  Jingleheimer Smith, and an eBay account as JJJ Smith.

And "an honest mistake"? Really? You changed your name in 2017 and 2022 is more than half over. 

My arithmetic is poor but it's been five years or so.

Regardless, ebay's claim that the OP submitted invalid documents is flat out wrong.  The OP clearly explained the reasons why somethings don't line up, and that there are legal reasons why they do not.  The documentation provided to ebay aren't invalid documents.

It was an honest mistake because I genuinely didn't know eBay took measures as far as blacklisting as Im still new to eBay.

I can only say what I would do if this happened to me.

I would fix the problem.

Get my paperwork and IDs in order so they all match and will satisfy ebay.

Then get back in touch with ebay and explain the situation and show them whatever documentation they need.

They are, because eBay makes very clear that your name must match in all places and on all documents. In my case, I had to add my middle initial to my eBay account before eBay would accept my bank account for MP because my bank account has my middle initial while my eBay account initially did not. And that was just a middle initial!

We would get all accounts fixed and updated with the correct name. Be hopeful the bank or others don't report you. Laws are strict when it comes to money after 9/11 and using a fake (old name) and not your legal name is a major issue.

Just a side note of some obscure information that you discuss around the fireplace when it  gets cold this winter. EH?.  The 3 Gabor sisters were  married a ton of times (Zsa Zsa (9x),  Magda (6x) and Eva - just 5x) but  never changed their names.
