Say what?!?!
Apparently we can only print 5 labels for a single order. The buyer can buy 40 items, but we can only print 5 labels in eBay and Paypal (combined). I have an order that took 12 boxes to ship. How am I supposed to print the other 7 labels? I've opened a FedEx account but of course it takes 5 days(!!!) to get authorization to ship via smartpost.
Paypal won't let me print additional labels for the order that I can find.
Very frustrating, why allow buyers to purchase beyond our capability to ship. I realize this is likely a rare occurance. It's rare for me as well, never had to handle an order near this large. It's just frustrating to find another barrier to being a seller on eBay.

Well you could use a (FREE) Stamps.com account or you could just print them directly from USPS:
Failing that you could of course wander into your local Post Office.

Wait I'm confused - you are combining shipping for 40 separate transactions, into 12 boxes? Doesn't each box need it's own separate tracking information?
And can't you just print 12 different labels from 12 of the 40 transactions to accomdate this and then upload the tracking information for each corresponding item to the box it goes inside?
Am I missing something here or am I just dumb?

I can see how this would be frustrating, but it sounds like quite a few have given you alternative ideas that might work.
On another note, congrats on the sales! And personally, if these were the ONLY 'frustrating barriers' I ever faced selling on here I'd be the happiest camper alive! 🙂

Customer placed ONE order of 40 items (and two more of 17 each), NOT my usual volumes by a long ways. When you have 40 items that only safely fit a maximum of 4 per box you need 10 (or more) boxes.

These are being shipped FedEx SmartPost, which I have found, is very hard to purchase except on eBay. The shipping price DOUBLES on each box if I have to FedEx Ground or USPS Parcel Post. (The items don't fit in flat rate, so that doesn't help).

Oh, I'm fully aware of the irony of being one who posted about the terrible sales and impression rates in Sept. I'm happy with the sales, but finding another hidden limitation of eBay system and being extremely stressed out trying to find a workaround and still meet shipping deadlines is not so happy.

Thanks,
These are being shipped via FedEx SmartPost because of cost (as stated FedEx ground and USPS Partial Post double the ship cost). I could not find that particular page last night, it's not on any of the paypal menus. I'll look there this evening and see if it allows for the printing of SmartPost labels.
I opened a FedEx shipping account in the hopes that I could do SmartPost from there, but after 45 minutes on the phone with a customer service person (refreshingly English speaking, friendly and really made the effort to help) getting the account setup properly we both discovered that it takes "special authorization" to purchase/print SmartPost on their website and it could not be done before next week.
I did come up with a workaround but it's not one I'm going to put out on the boards. Suffice it to say, there's more than one way to skin a feline.

It doesn't; it's just for USPS services. I wouldn't have bothered you with it if I had understood that only FedEx was suitable for you.
That page is not available through any other page in PayPal, so bookmark it or just remember the word "shipnow" for a future use.

Thanks I appreciate the info. My previous largest order was 20 items, but they were all hallmark ornaments and fit nicely in a single 12x12x12 box. These are porcelain christmas houses and only fit 2 - 4 per 18x14x12 box. I won't use anything larger than 24x16x14 for the houses as the box gets heavy and bulky which increases the handling risk IMHO.
