Did you mean:

“ You can't cancel this order quite yet. You need to wait from the time of purchase to cancel”.

Someone bought a Buy it Now item from me. And then asked to cancel.

Ive tried to cancel the transactions a bunch of times but keep getting a message that it can’t be cancelled at this time.

PayPal have just informed me that the “payment hasn’t been completed”.

How do I end this saga and get this transaction cancelled without losing money.

do I raise a Unpaid Case or a resolution case??

Thank you!

If PP is saying the payment is not completed you would need to open an unpaid item case.  Be Aware as of APril 1 the UPI goes away and you need to just cancel using the buyer has not paid option.

This quest stands on the edge of a blade...stray but a little and you shall fail to the ruin of us all.

I suppose? but maybe that was the point, someone buy it now and wanting to cancel to lose your money on purpose like scammers. everyone here has been scammed once or more times.

No, i have never been defrauded by a buyer in 10+ years of selling. Not every issue has a scammer behind it.

We need better information.

Exactly how are you attempting to cancel this transaction - through eBay, or through PayPal? If you are trying to do it through PayPal, that may be your problem.

Have you received payment for the item? i.e. is there a PayPal transaction in your PayPal account related to this sale? If not, it could be that your put the wrong email address on the listing, and the buyer's PayPal payment is sitting unclaimed because there is no PayPal account associated with the email address. (In that situation, I think the buyer needs to cancel the payment first - I can imagine that situation causing an issue with an eBay cancellation because there is no transaction to reverse).

These are just two wild guesses, because "the buyer bought and I can't cancel" does not really give us much to go on. You'll probably need to give us much more detailed and precise information for us to be able to help.

Hi,

im trying to cancel through eBay. By clicking on the sold item (which says ‘awaiting payment’) and selecting cancel.

the buyer committed to buy on the 25 March. And then four hours after I got a message saying it was sold (with payment to be via PayPal cheque??), the buyer contacted me to ask if they could cancel.

Ever since then I’ve been trying to cancel via eBay but just keep getting the message saying you can’t cancel right now.

ive sold items recently successfully so my PayPal account is linked to eBay account correctly - so I don’t think I’ve made a mistake with the email address.

ive assumed that I can’t cancel due to the PayPal e cheque payment method? Ie I couldn’t cancel because PayPal was trying to retrieve the money from the buyers bank account as they didn’t have enough funds in their PayPal account and no linked credit card. But now that PayPal have emailed me to say that payment was unsuccessful- I don’t understand why I can’t cancel.

Noted that PayPal have just informed you that the payment hasn’t been completed.

At this stage you don't need to do anything as item is either showing in Awaiting payment or shortly will move to that field. once this is done you should be able to cancel the order for reason Buyer asked to cancel.

If that does not work then open an item not paid case.

Don't forget to advise your buyer that you are going to open an unpaid item case as there is no other way for you to relist your item.

There should be no money lost as no payment has been made.

Small point:  I think the 2021 Spring Seller Update just said, "Starting in early April 2021 . . . "

Checking the id you've used to post here, I don't see any active listings, completed listings or sold listings. I also see you're registered in Australia.

Did this transaction you've posted about take place on ebay.com--the US platform? Or was it sold on ebay.com.au? Was it sold to a US buyer, or a buyer located elsewhere?

I'm just wondering if your question might not be better answered by members of your "home" board on ebay.com.au.

I'm a buyer.  I paid through ebay.  No paypal involved.  This is the message that EBAY gives me.

"You can't cancel this order quite yet. You need to wait from the time of purchase to cancel."

It would be great if ebay could, uhhh, use English to communicate their defects.

Hi @johnyaya123

You've posted your comment to a year-old thread.

If you have a question about the message you received from eBay ... I recommend you start a NEW thread so that you will get the most appropriate answers.

I recommend you rephrase your post when you do ... as I was unable to understand the point you were trying to make.
