Yet another issue...Shipping cost showing incorrectly - then actual cost shown at checkout

Here is a paraphrase of one that I posted a few days ago in the help forum...no answers yet, and it just happened again a few times...

I have had this three times now - not consistently, but randomly, and only with the offers.

The shipping cost shown to the person making the offer is the shipping cost as if it was within their own zip code, not from mine to theirs.

When they go to check out, or when I send them an invoice, then it shows them the actual shipping cost from my zip code to their zip code.

Here is the latest one that I just received from an offer I accepted:
Hi,
I am looking a buying the 67 Fairlane dash that you accepted my $75.00 offer for. It tell's me $11.44 for shipping but when I go to pay for it, the shipping charge is $42.00 dollars. Can you send me a separate invoice on it reflecting $75.00 for dash and $11.44 Shipping?

So, once again I am eating the shipping cost - On the last one, once I paid the shipping, I basically paid the guy to take the item.

This is getting very annoying very quickly.

Just venting a little, but I suppose now I need to add "decline all best offers" to my "to do" list alongside rephotographing and relisting a large number of listings that the system dumped my pictures out of...

Not the same issue, but shipping related...

I was checking on an item I'm considering buying from a Canadian seller.  Since they ship internationally, you have to click on "Calculate Shipping" in order to find out what the postage would be to your location.  No can do.  I got an error message.  Tried several times.  Finally messaged the seller directly and asked.  He replied back with the cost and thanked me for letting him know that the "calculate Shipping" feature wasn't working correctly.

Could be an isolated case, but wouldn't be surprised if it's another one to add to the list.  Either way, makes doing business here, darned near impossible.     😞

I'm sorry you're having this problem.  I am as well but Ebay is changing mine to say free shipping until one clicks on the listing to open it where it shows the calculated price.

I must say I'm not really enjoy the emails from buyers accusing me of trying to scam them.  CS was no help.  They said they only saw that problem on a few of my listings which "wasn't bad" and gave me a selling spiel about trying free shipping, that I'd like it if I tried it.  I thanked them kindly, bless their hearts, and decined.

Then I asked about the broken link on the promotion I received and she told me they knew about the issue but it wasn't really a problem since it was only details and impacted only a small number of sellers so I should just go ahead and list and see what happens.  Bless her heart, but no thank you.

Then I listed 49 things elsewhere, 7 of which sold within a few hours.  And I haven't yet gotten around to listing anything new on Ebay yet.

alan@ebay

This is a prime example of what happens when you tell customer service that the calculator isn't working or that things aren't displaying properly and buyers are feeling cheated by something out of our control.

"you should offer free shipping"

Adjust your business model because the tool doesn't work.

And ony affects a small number of sellers?

Just the ones not offering free shipping.

Come on!

Seriously !?
