Year in Review!

Received messages from eBay on each of my accounts to check out my year in review report. Cool stuff – select stats, and they make me look bigger than I am. How the hell am I a top 5% seller in Christianity? Top 5% in rock and pop?

non-consequential, but the total views for the year, and total number of buyers was interesting.  And I learned that November 15 was my busiest day – 38 items sold on one account!

Year in Review!

Yep I'm in the top 5% of Antiquarian & Collectible Books

I outperformed 99% of the other sellers in that category.

It's highly doubtful with this account. I personally know a lot of those sellers in that category. I do well but they do a lot better and wipe the floor with me, business wise.

Maybe with my primary account.

And if it turns out that it is true we are all in serious trouble.

I think it's supposed to be for fun more than anything serious.

Think about it - if you list 2 items in a category, sell both items, no returns, then you have a 100% sell through success rate. Technically you have outperformed (via sell through) a mega seller in the category.

Like I said - I think it's meant for fun and to be a positive year end morale boost. If you start dissecting the data you won't find much substance there. Look at the example I posted above about how eBay determined my biggest sale of the year because of eIS ship costs inflating the numbers.

Top performer alert! You’ve outperformed 92% of sellers in your category. Keep aiming high."

The way I figure it: sold 9 out of 10 listings (90%), so that is better than a seller selling 8,800 out of 10,000 listings (88%), but not better than the 8% of sellers better than me that sold 1 out of 1 or 3 out 3, etc.

Anyhow, I'm thrilled, and will take the bragging rights!

Thanks @wastingtime101  ! I didn't see this thread before starting mine due to the weird sorting issues going on here but glad to see at least some variety. 😂

FYI -

We just reset all sold ... I mean ordered pages to show 'last year' - Then check-marked all cancelled and refunded and compared that amount with the buyer count in message - On this account It was correct.

On other accounts the message number was off by three too few to double digits too many.

Also - ebay includes the shipping and tax in the 'star item' sale price, so it really sold for less then that amount - even if you do the fake free shipping bit.
