Would you pay $99 a year to buy on EBAY PRIME 2 day shipping? How about $39.99/month just to be a seller? Your thoughts? Remember we already offer 2 day shipping free here in most cases.

I get 50 free listings a month (more if there is a listing special). I pay for NO store and no fees unless I sell. So no, I dont pay if I dont have to. I do have Amazon Prime but it is for the movies and my song libraries, not really the overnight shipping. I rarely use hte shipping option.

Where does the $39.99 just to be a seller come into play? Are you saying to be included in that program - I as a seller would pay a $39.99 fee - no thanks - unless I get unlimited listings.

If I could pay $99 and get items with shipping costs shipped for free (not shipping included) then I would do it in a heartbeat. I pay a TON in shipping to Ebay sellers every year. It would save me a lot of money.

I think OP is referring to how Amazon lets you sell without subscription but gives you a lower "FVF" fee if you pay 39.99 a month. It pays for itself if you sell 40 items a month.

I don't have a store so the $39.99/month would be a waste of money. Unless you are a mega seller, it's just not practical.
Haven't heard of Ebay Prime. Is that something they are thinking of implementing soon?

I already pay more than that.

Here's the thing. I know when I buy using Prime that Amazon picks up the extra shipping above and beyond the $99 I pay. Who would pay the extra shipping on Ebay?
I'm pretty sure Ebay isn't interested in doing it so it would have to be the sellers. Do sellers really want to add paying for extra shipping on top of what they already pay?

What items would qualify for that "free" 2 day shipping? eBay does not sell anything so there would be nothing to use that perk on; and surely it would not be anything from any individual sellers, unless eBay is going to foot the bill for the difference.
And if they did that, despite making money off the buyer subscriptions in such a scheme; odds are good that the venue would still jack seller fees up to make up for the Hollywood Accounting "losses" from subsidizing their customers' shipping.
Nope. Prime works over there because Amazon itself is a seller, and they also give benefits not related to selling stuff on top of "free" Prime shipping with your membership.
I personally can not see any benefit that eBay can give sellers with such a program.

That's why this analogy doesn't work. I'm a Prime member, and, of course, shipping is great. Fabulous. Wonderful.
But that's not why I continue to be a Prime member. I don't own a television set, so I watch Prime Video constantly--I even cancelled my Netflix subscription. I use Prime Music a lot. I read free ebooks on a free Prime reader app. I can't use the games (on a Chromebook), but I'll bet plenty of Prime members do.
Believe me, I buy plenty from eBay, but I won't be giving up my Prime membership any time soon.

Amazon prime has absolutely no value to me.
This old timer owns a television and listens to the radio. I also read....get this...real paper books.
Amazon has nothing I need, or can't get locally.
Ebay really should come up with some kind of customer loyality program, something like buy 10 get 1 free milk the corner store offers.

No, I would not. Not at any price for either.

If by "eBay Prime" you mean ONLY free 2 day shipping the answer would be NO. I get free 2 day shipping on most things I buy on eBay (from US based sellers). I'm not an Amazon Prime member because I'm not interested in the "other stuff" it offers and I already get free shipping on virtually everything I buy there without needing a Prime membership.
As far as $39.99/month to sell, that would be fine with me presuming it was the same as AMZ (unlimited listings).
In any event, eBay are not about to start anything like AMZ Prime for buyers so that part of your question is moot.

No. Not if 2 day shipping is the only included service that I would theoretically receive through this imaginary program.
I am now spoiled, and my expectations are now higher. Movies, Music, eBooks, and 2 Day Shipping all included, for just $8.25 per month. In fact, as I write this response, I am listening to a live Grateful Dead album from 1977 through the prime music service. I just started watching the new season of Bosch this past weekend, using the prime video service.
How about $39.99/month just to be a seller?
Maybe. What would theoretically be included with this package/membership?
I sell on another marketplace that charges $25.00 per month for 500 listings. ($0.05 per listing), and has a commission or FVF of 8%, but that fee has a cap of $40 per item. So any item that sells above $500, I am money ahead. Once again I have become spoiled, and my expectations are now higher.
I like selling on eBay a lot, but it has become a real grind this past 18 months, and it does not appear that that will be changing anytime in the near future.

Will I get unlimited sales listings like their competitor? Ebay is not amazon. Ebay is actually ruining what their advantages were. They will not beat amazon at their game. That is why Amazon is $1500 stock and ebay is $30 stock. Auctions are dead, and people can't find what they are looking for. I actually search for some of my listings by specific keywords and I'm on page 2 or 3; and many of the people ranked higher aren't even selling the item I was searching for.
