Would you block this buyer?

Buyer has 600+ feedback rating but 12 of 50 feedbacks left for others are negative. Sounds like buyer likes to complain and don't like to complement. Would you block?

What are the negs for? I'd have to see that before I'd block or not (and I probably wouldn't anyway, not for a buyer with 600+ received feedback)

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

It depends.  Usually I block with a ratio that high but I would also need to see exactly what the complaints were about.  Are they all recent or spread out throughout the year?  Plus I would scour the others to see if there are soft positives or the telltale "Easy to work with".  That suggests a partial refund success story.

Go with your gut.  If it says block, you block.

At the moment you have three listings, the highest of which is $12.00.

If you can risk $12.00, Fly the Big Ones... it means go for it.

If you're not comfortable, work on some new listings.

Are the negatives bunched together? Like 12 negs long ago vs 12 negs recently vs 12 negs dispersed among the 50?  Any of those 12 for the same seller?  Taken at face value how to they read?  Crazy angry?  Or calm reasonable.

Some buyers only leave feedback when they're feeling extremely happy or extremely unhappy.  Do you get a sense of that?

Also, check their user ID history - some members who merged their accounts in the distant past carry over the feedback received but not the feedback left.

That's quite a few negs, which means buyer is unhappy at least 25% of the time. I'd probably block. (They don't know people can see their attitude towards sellers...)

Depends what the negative says.

Did the seller deserve them?  Cancelled sales, poor shipping, failure to ship, etc.  Does the seller the left them for have a lot of negs?

or is it a nit-picky buyer?

It's 24% of his feedback LEFT,  but since he has received at least 600 feedback, it's no more than 2% of his transactions.

Another couple of questions:

1. those 600+ fbs are those all received as a buyer? Or are some as a seller?

2. If the buyer ever was a seller, are any of those negs ones he left for buyers?

12 of 50 feedbacks left for others are negative

That's roughly a quarter of the feedback he/she left for others.  While it's possible that those feedback hits may have been deserved because of late shipping, something wrong with the item, etc., still seems a bit high to me.

I'm not altogether sure I'd block this buyer based on that alone, but I would definitely be wary entering into a transaction.

The more pressing issue here - all buyers have 100% feel-good positive feedback regardless of reality.  It's entirely possible that the 12 negatives are a reflection of unreasonable buyer behaviour (losing a return case or refund, for example, due to shenanigans) rather than simply that many bad sellers.

Exactly. 25% of the feedback left for others is negative. Not good odds for a seller dealing with this buyer...

@digiman123

Even more helpful would be :

1) what exactly was written on these 12 negs left by buyer.

2) thus enable interested posters to 'profile' said buyer.

All 600+ feedback are as a buyer. Most of the negative feedback were more than a year ago. 20% negative feedback left for others is too much regardless of reason. Sounds like he doesn't reciprocate positive feedback; received 600+ feedback as a buyer but only left 50 feedback to sellers. I will block and avoid.
