Will the Incandescent Light Bulb Ban effect Vintage Christmas Bulb Listings?

Hello everyone,

Looking for any information about the upcoming ban on incandescent light bulb sales beginning Tuesday, August 1. Will this effect listings for vintage Christmas light bulbs that are incandescent and is eBay preparing to remove all listings that contain incandescent bulbs?

No, it won't effect anything at all, it might certainly affect it but it absolutely will not effect it.

Retailers will be prohibited from selling any bulbs—including incandescent bulbs—that don’t match the new standard, though households using any existing bulb that does not meet the standard will not be required to stop using them.

The ban only applies to making and selling new bulbs and not even all types of them.

There are 22 categories of exceptions to the ban on incandescent bulbs.  It would be crazy for eBay to try to differentiate between exempt and non-exempt items.  But that doesn't mean they won't try.  Usually when something like this comes along eBay will make an Announcement. often at the last minute.

It's primarily for standard medium base incandescent bulbs.   Low voltage and low wattage bulbs under 300 lumens are excluded. 

Of course, eBay is now blocking ALL incandescent and halogen bulbs.

If you have stock on these, save them, you will be able to sell them in 2025 once the Democrats are out of office again.

I tried listing my GE Reveal bulbs and eBay refused to list them. Guess I'll have to try a dark alley in NY city?

At the moment there are in excess of 20,000 listings for incandescent light bulbs right here on eBay. Included in that mix near the top is a listing for GE 60 watt standard medium base.

RETAILERS may be prohibited from selling them. But then eBay is not a Retailer - and as a private citizen neither are you.

On the other hand of course - Confederate flags are NOT illegal but you can not sell them here.

So move everything over to your own private site and sell away.

FYI: The law banning them was signed in 2007 by President Bush. Lol
