Today I added a picture and text to an auction that has bidders, using the area at the bottom of the auction that is for description added after there are bidders. I want to be sure that all the existing bidders will be notified of this, as the information will be significant to many bidders.
I went down the list of bidders and messaged them one by one. BUT ... eBay has a limit on the number of messages that can be sent in one day. I am out of messages and have 6 more bidders to contact. If eBay does that I won't worry. If eBay doesn't, I guess I just have to wait until midnight. Or is there some hidden utility that allows a seller to message all existing bidders at once?
The verbage about contacting members on the eBay policy page includes the phrase "we know it is important for members to be able to communicate easily with each other." Sure!
Thanks,
Mike

No ebay will not contact these buyers for you.
As you already did, just contact the highest bidders, as many as you can, to let them know of the change and they can remove their bid if they want.
Do know that many bid last minute and only go by title and first picture. If this is a very signifcant change, imo I would cancel all bids, cancel the listing and relist with the correct info.

Emerald,
Thanks for your reply on this - the message limit seems to be something like 10. I guess I can see the potential for abusing the eBay mail system, but 10 seems arbitrarily small.
Thanks also for your good advice on cancelling the auction (it would be easier than what I'm doing!) . I have done that before, but (long story) this case doesn't quite fall in that category. I made a reply to a specific question by one potential bidder. I sent him a photo to answer his question, and wanted all the other bidders to see the picture.
Your observation that many bidders only look at the first picture explains a lot!
