Why r sales so bad? I need some advice - very frustrated

I have excellent feedback (whenever I can get it- because a lot of buyers don't leave positive feedback) - super fast shipping and only charge USPS rates - no gouging on shipping plus I offer combined shipping discount - I research sold listings to make sure I price items fairly - most of my items r priced accordingly and consist of pre-owned but mint designer clothing as buy it now with best offer accepted - please feel free to peruse my listings and give any advice u can - thank u

@rockusone   @starmct

shipping just a bit too high. I would take a little hit on shipping cost

Better to move some of your shipping cost to your asking price, in my opinion.

Which is cheaper

A $25 item with $30 shipping ?

A $35 item with $25 shipping?

A $55 item with Free Shipping?

There is no one answer. Some people like the low price and don't worry about the shipping cost, some love the idea of "free".

But everybody hates a shipping price that is higher than the selling price.

And of course, this also works better when the item being sold cannot be directly compared to identical items, like electronics or even books.

First of all, you misquoted me, and took it out of context. I said, "Some items had shipping just a bit too high. I would take a little hit on shipping cost and eliminate best offer unless you're desperate to move the item."  Then you state, "Better to move some of your shipping cost to your asking price, in my opinion." Implying your opinion is better than mine. Then you state, "There is no one answer." ??

Thank you again for your advice . I have tried both ways - higher prices with and without best offer option and free shipping and lower prices and regular shipping costs - to no avail - I do combine shipping costs if buyers combine items and I do clarify that in my descriptions.  I think the main problem is my inventory consists mostly of clothing I am selling for a friend and she is a size 4-6 which seems to be out of most women's size range plus a lot of fall/winter items- I will keep on trying but unfortunately if stuff doesn't sell by Christmas I will have to give back to her. I have used a lot of your suggestions and promoted some listings - fingers crossed that helps. I have also had some feedback that my items are for mature women and not stylish enough - can't do anything about that. Too bad since all items are top quality even though pre-owned. Again I do appreciate your time.

Pfft-- This translates as "I can't afford this".  Your diminutive friend's items are mostly fairly classic-- style is in what you do with the classics. Not everybody wants to be a harajuko loli.

If you are selling items with frequent returns, then charging less than the shipping cost and building that cost into the sales price will bite you when they return it.

Thank you so much - I have been selling on Ebay since 2000 - but like duh - haven't sold that much clothing - wasn't aware of the priority padded flat rate envelope option - ordered lots from USPS and have changed shipping to flat rate of $8 for listings for clothes that fit - what a difference 🙂 -  hopefully bring my sales up - fingers crossed - I tried free shipping to no avail before by reducing prices to ridiculous levels based on quality of clothes - so not an option. If u have time take a new look at my listings now - and if you have additional feedback please let me know - again thank you for your time

A friend of mine is also a seller here  . She just sold a big pink pig ceramic  to a lady in Germany . The pig cost 15 dollars but the shipping fees were 55 . I guess the buyer really wanted that pig bad  enough ,, shrug  Tulips

August and September were horrible for me. Before that every month this year, except one, were better than last year at least slightly and that month was only off by a couple hundred bucks.

But August and September I made less than half what I did in 2018. I really have no idea why. I've tried everything. I run promotions, reduced prices, sent offers to buyers, listed my you know what off, added best offers, tried promoted listings, but it hasn't corrected the problem.

It's really starting to hurt my wallet and get concerning. The last couple of months I actually worried about paying my bills.

I feel really powerless because I've decided it's got to be eBay and there's nothing I can do about it. What's crazy is how sudden it happened, though.

I also am extremely diverse. I sell a big variety of items. I have more listings right now than I've ever had on eBay. I have lifetime 100% feedback. I am a Top Rated Seller.

Literally the only change that has happened is that back around July I got my Top Rated Seller badge back after losing it in November because I had an injury and had several shipments that were late and eBay wouldn't do anything to help me out, so I lost it. Turns out I may have been better without it since I'm doing WORSE now than I was before.

I don't really know what to do anymore except pray they fix the problems.

Oh yes!

I have no problem using Free Shipping for domestic and for USA shipping (from here in Canada) but I NEVER offer free international shipping.

The overseas customer is shopping here because she can't find it in her own country, and if she wants it she will pay for it.

Most of my overseas customers have no problem with that.
