Why is payment on hold

I’m not new to eBay but haven’t sold items in awhile.  Sold an item and the seller paid for the item.  The money is showing on hold and it looks like it said until I marked the item as shipped.  I shipped the item and put the tracking number in and money is still on hold.  When does it come off hold and how can find out more about why it’s on hold.  Thx

For new sellers and sellers who have not been active recently.  eBay does have holds on funds.  The hold is generally 21 days but once the item shows delivered ebay many times will release the hold for you.  This is generally done automatically, but some sellers say it is not working correctly all the time.  If you see the tracking showing delivered then you call call ebay and see if they will release the hold.

You can call and request the hold be removed three days after tracking shows delivery.

If the payment is showing in your PayPal account, then the funds will be released about 3 days after the tracking shows Delivered.  It shouldn't be necessary to call PayPal, since the release is usually automatic.

OTOH, if you got a message that said that the funds would show up in your PayPal account after you provide proof of shipping, then you have been scammed.
