Why is eBay forcing more expensive priority shipping when I put the brand name in my item title?

Whenever I put the brand name of an item in the title eBay is forcing priority shipping as the cheapest option, instead of first class mail. Why? People search for specific brands and no one wants to pay double the shipping just to find an item easily by the brand. As soon as I remove the brand name from the title, first class mail returns as a shipping option. What is going on?

When you list the item YOU choose the method of shipment. It has nothing to do with the brand of the item or the title of the listing.

Are you using the App?

If so, try switching to the desktop or mobile browser.

Alternative, list with Priority and immediately revise, I'm told that First Class will be an available option.

There have been a bunch of reports about the App glitch in the last day.

If you are on a desktop now and having this problem.......I got nothing!

If your listing from thd mobile app its not letting anyone select first class shipping. It has been 5 or 6 days now and ebay has  done nothing to fix it or even acknowledge it that i have seen, if you go to the mobile apps (android and apple) discussion boards, there are hundreds of people complaining, it's hurting a lot of people's businesses, its hurting ebays business if people cant list.

as other have mentioned 1st class is not offered for phone users who are trying to list something.

its been  busted for a week or so and many users cant get 1st class shipping into a listing with a phone.

there have been various workarounds already mentioned for this

its a sad state of affairs for the phone listers............the reason it does not work is because its broken

Try listing one as priority shipping with higher rate. Then go in and revise it to 1st class. I have been able to do that and am on android.

1st class option appears when revising for me. Also fixed price for whatever reason is the better way to go when listing on app for 1st class right now. Something is wrong but you can try these options. There are more I have used on android also. I'm having no problems with my minor changes

First class option is not available for me when revising an item, and in fact if I revise the price or photos for an item that is already live and listed as first class then when i press revise it tells me i have to select a valid  shipping method and first class is not available.

Well how do YOU chose first class shipping when listing from the Android app? Because none of the rest of us seem to be able to that for the last 2 weeks

Are you using the app or a pc?  As others have mentioned, it is an app problem, it wouldn't have anything to do with your titles.

You might want to check the spelling of miniature in your titles. 🙂

This has nothing to do with your title and everything to do with a change eBay made over a year ago to the way they present shipping options to buyers. It will ALWAYS default to what their algorithm thinks is the QUICKEST delivery method. That's why I no longer offer more than one method and why for larger items, I ONLY offer FedEx ground. Since this change, any large items will show an insane USPS priority shipping cost which prevent people from even looking at the listing at all. After I removed that, my impressions, views, and ultimately sales went up by 22%. 

eBay enjoys playing games like this. They think it helps them compete. Their stock price begs to differ. They need to focus on their strengths and innovate. Instead, they base all of their decisions on playing catch up.

 Also, on International it often defaults to shipping methods when printing labels I don't use. I don't use eBay Standard or Global Shipping programs. Yet, last international sale on the print label defaulted to International Standard. In these cases I believe it's not the algorithm but likely eBay makes money on this method.

Sellers should and need to be in control of these details about their listings. eBay should not interfere. Shipping can be complicated, is a competition point, and buyers are highly aware of shipping costs and issues.  eBay does not know what's better for you.
