A long time ago, I was a Silver Seller. Not sure if that's still a thing. For a few reasons, I left eBay for another site (not sure if it is still unallowed to mention another site), but I kept my foot in the door here.
Over the weekend, I thought maybe I should give eBay another try, even though by now I sell on two other sites. Because, why not? Very quickly I was warned that I had reached a limit on the number of items I could sell. Whoa. Been with eBay more than a decade, perfect feedback, and they're getting all snooty with me?
So I call their 800 number to "request" that I make them more money. The 800 number is some sort of scam, where you have to listen to marketing come-ons, and after you don't stop pushing buttons for whatever **bleep** that is being peddled, eBay ended the call. Whoa. So then I thought, OK, eBay farmed out the phone center with idiots. I'll just contact them directly by email or thei site. 404. EBay
s site for reuestion that you make more money from them is a dead link.
Hey eBay, do you know why Amazon cleaned your clock 15 years ago and still does? Yeah, I didn't think so, either. Hint: You still don't care about profit. I spent 4 hours trying to sell more on your site, and I got the back of your hand. I've seen better yard sales than this.

Morning,
Ebay decided several years ago that they maxed out their revenue from their US sellers and have since turned their eye to offshore sellers that get a far better discount on shipping than we do.
These offshore sellers can also make new knockoffs cheaper than our used goods and ship them for next to nothing.
Just a thought.

Clearly you have not kept up witht he changes that have happened here.
Only the sales you have made in the last 12 months count. You are considered the same as a brand new seller if you haven't been selling regularly.
Don't know what you hear if you just call the general number.
There is no way to contact them by email. They only speak to you by phone. You wouldn't have been successful in increasing your selling level anyway, as you have to sell for 90 days without any issues. And new sellers often have problems with scammers coming after them.
We strongly suggest you read these threads and prepare yourself to deal with problem buyers.

All new sellers have limits. If you haven't sold in over a year, you are technically new. Despite what you may have done in the past, you have been inactive; therefore you have to go through the same proving process as anyone else, so you're taking this much too personally.

So, OP has a small handful of $15 trinkets and has hit a wall.
How then are some with no history able to list $1,000.00 or higher computers?

I sometimes waver and think about selling here. Then I come to these boards and get reminded why I stopped. Things have only gotten worse since I stopped. I know theft is part of running a business, but I have never had anywhere close to what I encountered here, not even through the A-Z competitor. I prefer selling direct and letting the customer inspect right there, then hand me money that can't be yanked from my bank account for remorse, or something more sinister as outright theft.
I still buy here though, and to say I appreciate the sellers who are able to juggle the moving landmines and still offer great deals is an understement. I suspect in the future there will be a form of PTSD associated with long term selling here (j/k...a little).

Actually ebay is doing what they did to you with limits in order to protect everybody. Dormant or low volume accounts are often targets by scammers that will hack into it and then list thousands of dollars worth of items, divert the money and disappear, leaving the account holder in ruins. And ebay looks bad.
It's one of the few things ebay does that I agree with.
As far as you not getting through to a call center - you have no idea how good that was for you, ebay CS are considered some of the worst when it comes to actually helping a caller - in fact most of the time their suggestions are detrimental to the seller.
ebay implements major changes just about every 6 months, that includes links and the CS system, if you have not kept up, read through some announcements. Whatever reason that made you leave before - it is probably worse for you now. ebay has made it clear that they care about profit, they have also made it clear who they are going to use as a doormat to make that profit.
And you can get a number to call ebay from the contact us link that is located at the bottom of every ebay page.

In 2014 I took a break from selling and came back here Sept 1016. I was at first hit with the $1000 and 10 item restriction. I got through to CS (yes it can be a featbut 10am in the morning you are more likely to get a US CS) . I told them my hostory selling here and they upped it to 50 and 5000 items. Every month after that they increased my limits.
The first part is asking I guess.
Good Luck

I've been selling on eBay for 17 years.
Never seen an 800 number for them. . .
866 but no 800

OP is a TRS, but even Top Rated Sellers have listing limits.

OP, sorry for your frustration.
All new sellers have limits, and if there is a considerable time period between now and your last sale, they will consider you a new seller.
Once you have built up a history of successful recent transactions, they will raise your limits. You have to sell for at least 90 days, I believe, to establish that history.
So it may be very premature for you to call Ebay about this.

eBay's toll-free number for customer service starts with 866.
The same 7-digit number with other toll-free area codes have been bought up by scammers, who use them to try to scam people who are trying to reach eBay but are careless enough to misdial the phone.

OP, it is not that Ebay doesn't care about profit, it is because it DOES.
No offense to you, but they don't want a new seller to abscond with the money, leaving them holding the bag to reimburse their buyers. They don't want buyers disappointed by not getting their items. They don't want new sellers overwhelmed and unable to handle shipping, or simply decide they will ship when they feel like. They don't want buyers to get items that are not as described.
So this is to keep the site safer for everyone.
10-24-2017 04:07 PM
OP is not a new seller, they just haven't sold in 12 months so the limits kicked in automatically. Big difference between a new seller and one who simply has been inactive for a short 12 months.
OP - call eBay early in the morning, be patient and polite (sometimes it's not easy lol). Have them look at your account and your history and say you wish your limits to be raised. They should do it. The same thing happened to me and it appears also to Oddities upthread.
10-24-2017 04:08 PM
And I do agree with the limits on brand new sellers, it's just that OP already has a track record here.
