Here we go again. eBay is going to drive everyone away one way or another. It's bad enough that everyone thinks eBay is one massive glitch. Now eBay's rolling out another beta test that failed last year. Hiding the descriptions, conditions, and photos will lead to numerous SNAD claims. Buyers will skip the links, and then buy stuff only to ship it back on the sellers dime.
Is it really that hard for eBay too get it together when it comes to mobile device viewing on the net? Come on' it's not rocket science. Just some code. Everyone else seems to have a handle on it, including the mom an pop sites. Get with the program eBay. Stop all the constant changes. Get it done and then leave it alone.

It's not plural. I'm all Man, or as my wife puts it, Mountain Man. This body is a feminine genes free zone.

It's the MBA biz school mentality: always marketing, rebranding, PR, image makeovers, consultants, follow the latest trends...

Branding and more branding, just to tout a site that's failing it's members. Devin didn't even care about working for eBay when he signed on. He was worried that his name was going to get labeled as a pass up, so he took the job. The guys a lawyer, not a CEO.

They have always done this. I am just glad that its not October and November and they are busy changing things.
I still think that eBay will be hard at work messing up the site with new changes in Oct and Nov while people are trying to do their Xmas shopping. They've done it every Xmas season for the past few years.

Just wanted to update everyone on the thread (before I go get Mexican food now, thanks for that by the way) that we got information back on this:
This is a test, expected to run for several weeks. It's targeting a small segment of buyers, and as all selling accounts are also considered buying accounts there were sellers included as well.
This isn't a permanent change, and will revert once the test has completed. The aim is specifically to see how the same shortened description on mobile expands to full desktop: if it will improve sales conversion, improve the buying-experience, etc. If the test demonstrates measurable adverse impact across the board it is discontinued.
We'll keep you updated as we have more information!

Several weeks is more than long enough to destroy someones livelihood if they are negatively impacted by this "test".

There is no ultimate "fix" to this. What YOU see is NOT what potential buyers see - they would all have to switch browsers, clean up cookies, etc. It's a smokescreen. Ebay customer service rep told me days ago it was a "bug" they were trying to fix (don't believe him). Said eBay is NOT going to acknowledge it. Promoted Chrome browser. All a scam. This is not a "test". Was told repeatedly it was a "bug". Folks need to speak up! No matter what eBay cs reps tell you, they are lying! I've been reading all the blogs for days - so many different stories, so many sellers think everything is okey dokey as they cleared out their history, changed browsers, blah, blah, blah. Makes no difference! What YOU see is NOT what potential buyers see. Two months of contact with eBay - every single time they promoted Chrome browser .... "works best with eBay". Funny, I was on Firefox for years and never a single problem. AGAIN, it does not matter what browser you are using -- what matters is what potential buyers see. Go ahead and do eBay's so-called "fix". Then ask your friends, family, whoever, to check your listings. I guarantee you they will NOT see what you see - they will NOT see your full listing description (some might, but very few). Ebay is lying to everyone. NOT a test - a total site wide change. NO opt-out. NO control over what itty bit eBay MAY put in your description - misleading, useless words. Heck, the majority of my listings have NO random words pulled from my original description. This fraud needs to stop. People, please wake up!!! So frustrating!!

Yep, daily rants. You do know Ebay does not force a seller to be here right ?

So far, I haven't seen any changes to the listing descriptions on anybodies listing that I look at. The only changes that I do see, are the sponsored ads. If I logged into any of my accounts, I don't see the sponsored ads in the listings for those accounts. If I view the same listings on my other laptop...Same make/model and everything else, and Never has been logged into eBay. I do see the sponsored ads within my listings.
I take this as eBay trying to fool me into believing that all the sponsored ads have been removed from my listings.

What the heck is going on? Now I have to click on a link in a listing to see the full description and possibly additional photos in another tab? I do 99% of eBay shopping on an iPad and that is really annoying and frustrating! Is this a temporary test? I didn't receive any update from eBay about this change. This will get very old very fast and affect my use of the site. Why!!! Is there any one or place to voice an opinion on this?

Ask Tyler in his post above.
This is a repeat of a past test gone bad. Nobody liked it then and nobody likes it now. They are being more selective as to how many accounts are getting messed with this time.

Have you tried it or just assuming it's all bad by believing the daily anti-Ebay propaganda thread.

Why would she do that, when all she needs to do, is read my propaganda thread. Tyler's the one who revived it.
