Is it then just like in every other instance on this platform automated, meaning that i get my money back without having to contact ebay?

this has always been a big issue here, you should definitely check into this matter if buyer did not return item,
many times the buyer gets to keep item and seller is out of their money
It is a tricky situation that usually is always in the buyers favor when claiming INAD ( item not as described)
do not delay any longer be proactive and make contact

There's no mention of an INAD. I took this to mean if they officially opened a return via Ebay & then did not ever send it back.
If so, then yes, it IS automated & the refund happens automatically, but be aware they have a ridiculous amount of time to return it, 30 or 31 days. As long as it was an official return, opened in Ebay, it will automatically close & refund when the deadline has passed.

If you accepted the return and gave the buyer a shipping label and they didn't actually return it then yes you will get your money back because they didn't follow correct process. It might take awhile.

Hey there @assortedcollectibles sorry to hear you didn't get your item back yet!
The good news is that like @wildpitchsports mentioned as long as you accepted it and provided the label the case will eventually time out in your favor if they don't send it back. It could take some time but you just need to wait it out. If there are any issues make sure to reach out to CS right away. Thanks!

I have not given a label as the buyer lives in a different country. I selected "buyer lives somewhere i can't purchase return label" or something to that effect. It says he has to return it though. I am just wondering about the procedure.. If there is a deadline and if said deadline is not met if i get an automated refund etc.

It was an INAD. The "buyer" purchased lots of high end sealed playstation 1 games from different sellers only wanting to return them all for some reason. Got messaged by another seller that told me he had done the same to him and another seller and they feared they were being set up for a scam.. still not sure what this individual is up to though, but just as had happened with them happened with too.
Modus operanid is as follows: Purchase game, hold it until the return window is within one day of closing, open return and claim something was not as described.. could be some failed attempt at arbitrage.

Thats my point as i stated in first response,These returns are not always as simple and easy with "No Worries" as some of the other post's have stated,It does not always go in favor of the seller
Also do not wait on this as some buyers who do this will "close up" never to be heard from again-Then What!

Well, she never mentioned an INAD in the OP. Or for that matter any reference to another country. So it sounded like a normal return. Even the pink didn't have any idea that it was a foreign INAD. That makes all the difference. If it was a normal return, which is what one would assume from the opening post. It DOES happen automatically on day 31 or 32 ish. This is a whole different ballgame.
Sorry OP, IDK in this case, you may want to see if you can summon the pink again. It sadly does sound like some sort of scam in the making. Maybe as simple as people refund them & then tell them to keep the item b/c they don't want to pay for the return shipping. The info you added in post 7, changes everything.

Its a first for me. The other time someone wanted to return something it was a scam where the buyer switched out a $500 item for a worthless memory stick so i guess he gladly paid shipping himself. Oh well i guess i just have to wait and see.

@assortedcollectibles
If you shipped this directly to the customer in another country, or used the eBay Global Shipping Program, for a "not as described" return you are expected to provide MONEY to the buyer to buy a return label with the required delivery or signature confirmation back to you. Since you can't send them any money through Managed Payments, the money is typically sent via PayPal.
You don't provide this, then eBay will step in and refund the buyer in full for you with no return required, and award you the appropriate defects.

The buyer has until Feb 10 to ship the item back. If you choose to refund the buyer now, then the return will close and you shouldn't expect to receive the item.

As expected i now got a mail from ebay and in typical ebay fashion they expect me to pay for shipping through this return abusing persons postal service even though he is located in a different country which obviously can be a hassle.
So much for that "international fee" they charge.

To add insult to injury the mail i received from ebay which clearly was overseen by some employee came from a "non monitored inbox".
