So today I spent the whole day packing (because I was gone for almost a week and had 30 orders piled up). Two hours was wasted looking for a coin made into a pendant. The packaging the shop put it in broke and I repacked it to be better, so it wasn't what I was looking for... I had to systematically check the entire bookcase of boxes for it.
But that's not what this post is about...
So I had a customer on Saturday night, message me a whole bunch of times about different stamps. He had a specialized area of Queen Victoria that he was looking for and he took advantage of a bunch of offers I sent out. I think I had 12 items when all was done.
I started packing them, but one was missing. The little cards they are on sometimes stick together in the box and I think whoever got the one in front of it, got his as well. Well I have to refund that one item as an OOS.
But to not have him go away empty handed, I pulled out an Australia collection I bought months ago and never took apart and selected 5 Queen Victoria stamps from the collection, all different, to send to him as a bonus, and "sorry I didn't have one item on your order". I sent him a note to let him know he was getting a refund for the missing item, and a bonus to his order. I feel this type of thing will encourage him to shop in my store again.
Although bonuses don't work in all genres... if the dress they want is OOS, you can't really send a random replacement to the customer.

Not really. I don't sell stamps. But I sell stuff on ebay. Any way, if some one was really hoping to get the stamp, that you cant send to them. Its really hard to make it up to the buyer. Some times people understand, but again... It happens, I hope that every thing works out...
