Had an item up that sold to someone (person A) 'based in Mauritius' on Apl 15th. They got an invoice on 4/18 and non payer was started on 4/19.  We got this message (twice) on 4/19 - "hi mr steeve ...i am sory for the item ..so give me teel tuesday or monday...i take it with u..because my ibay aplication was in another i mail adress so it now i se this imail....realy i am sorry my friend....." - Didn't reply and closed case as soon as able.

Re- listed item 5/3.  On 5/6 get this message (three times in a row) from 'person A' sent from original listing - "hi..so can buy the order please...reply me ..so i can make the transactions ..thanks you.." AND we notice that mister A has bid on re-list. (I know, we forgot to add to blocked list - our bad).

After speaking with ebay had them cancel bid and we blocked.  Then on 5/11 person B - also 'based in Mauritius' bids. Now the island has a million plus but still ... it HAS to be the same person or his brother. Both ID's have 11 total FBs, all for the same type of items as ous.

So cancel and block, right.

Cancel, block and call it to ebay's attention to get them on ebay's radar if he uses another ID to buy.

I know ebay is allowing that now, but if he tries to cause a problem, ebay has been warned, and supposedly they will not allow people to circumvent your block to cause problems.  (eye roll icon inserted here)

You know, just like with trump, when ebay get's it right you got to give them credit when it's due.

Just got a message from ebay.  "Due to suspicious activity" - bid was canceled by ebay and we checked,  both id's were NARU'ed.

So, good boy ebay, good boy.

Cancel. Block. I would also consider changing your listings to "require immediate payment".  I did years ago and i'm so glad i did.

You talking to me.

You know how many times I have been accused of being an ebay employee or an ebay cheerleader who always spouts ebay rehetoric  .Oh believe me, I give ebay credit when it is due and point out when the criticism they get is unwarranted.

But I still do not agree with their circumventing your blocks.

Not in particular - don't take this wrong but to tell you the truth I don't know who you are. Sounds like you're a person who sometimes stick up for ebay - nothing wrong with that. Truth be told ebay has always done us right ... most times. Even Yas's stuck out (Boston reference) When I come here I don't really look at who posted what, just what was posted.

And only the first bidder was blocked - can't block someone before they bid. Wound up that 'they' were most likely one in the same but it's not that small an island (million plus) so it could have been someone else.

@steve_stuff

Why don't you just exclude Mauritius from the places you'll sell/ship to?

I think that's highly unlikely.

The place is literally in the middle of nowhere, I can't imagine mail is very fast, and it may not be reliable either... I'd be worried about eBay Delivery Estimates and non-delivery disputes in any event.

We don't have a problem shipping anywhere, just selling to this person who didn't pay the first time around. If the non payer had been from the US, and the new bidder the same, we would have never put the two together. Only the remote local 'tipped' us off.

My understanding is that ebay used to support a seller when a buyer was trying to circumvent their blocks but apparently not so much as of late.

Technically I am sure it is very much against the rules, the problem is getting ebay to see it your way, should it come to that.

Seems that ebay is about the buyer having the optimal experience and the seller must bend over backwards to accomodate, no matter what the cost, financial or otherwise.

Thankfully it looks like this one was snagged and saved you a lot of headaches. Bullet = dodged!

For every seller who has a problem and comes here to complain, there are 'very large number'  who have a problem, get it taken care of and never come here 'to report'

And no one comes here to say everything been running like clockwork.  How many things are sold by mom and pop's on ebay every day? (I don't care if a big box has a problem)  How many have a problem. A problem that doesn't get solved to their liking. If it's you, it's one too many. I really don't know how many times ebay get's it right or wrong, other then when it involves us. Like I said (typed) before, ebay has always done us right ... most times. And the one loss was small time.

I really think that if you have hundreds of different type items get there OK, and just refund when the buyer is right, you get the benefits of the doubt when you fight. But if you fight everything and everybody a scrammer and you're never wrong ... different odds.
