I sell mostly clothing & an occasional collectible. I DO NOT modify anything, such as you might do with a cell phone or auto part. Why was this question added to ITEM SPECIFICS in categories that it would never apply to? STUPID! One more ridiculous hoop to jump through!

It's on everything. Did I modify this glass vase? This corning ware casserole dish?
I think it sounds insulting.

Yep ... saw the same stupidity on a couple Pyrex casserole dishes I listed yesterday.

Well lets see. You sell used clothing, and
Yea I think it does belong in your category. Those seem like modifications to the original garment to me.
I think this will help in requests if you will fill it out. returns and snad requests use item specifics as an important part of the eBay decision.
Good Luck Selling!

I like it. You might not modify anything but if you're selling pre-owned clothing that you aren't the first owner of, it may have been hemmed, altered, mended, relined, etc. This is where you can put that so that buyers can see it and not say later that they didn't know it was altered/hemmed/ etc and file SNAD.
Remember, it's the Title and Item Specifics and not the description that really protect the seller nowadays. If you don't mention something important like alterations/repairs in the title or item specifics, but only in the description, eBay is not likely to support you in a dispute or consider removing negative feedback.

Sorry, but I think the thing that needs some major MODIFICATIONS is eBay!
I just got it setting up a magazine listing in Turbo Lister. What kind of modifications does it want to know? Did I take off the label? Did I black out the name? Did I cut out a photo?

I modify all the time by CLEANING the casserole dishes!

It defaults to NO so I don't see the problem.
We already have a lot dumber stuff in Item Specifics to ignore - like THEME.
Just ignore it unless it applies.

It didn't in my Turbo Lister. I would have to select No to make it stick.

Actually yes ....if the magazine has been cannibalized or written in - this seems like a handy place to mention it where it'll be visible (theoretically) and you'll have protection if the buyer says he didn't see it in the description.
If not - just ignore it.

Do people still use Turbo Lister? Cool beans.

See? There you go! To me it's useless but to others it's important. Ditto "modifications".
Too bad about the Lister program though. That's not good.

You do when your DSL is so pathetic that you can't use Ebay's online listing programs at all. Anything that has to be done in real time on Ebay just spins and spins and spins.
So basically we put the same info in the Modifications that ended up in the Item Condition field. That is where I put the info that the name is blacked out, the label removed etc.
