This is partially a rant and partially a poll to see if my expectations are skewed...the last year of eBay sales have been so different than the past...nearly scammed by a phony 'smoke-smell' claim; confirmed delivery item "never arrived", conned out of a $400 sale due to not having a return policy in place (now I do). Buyer shipped back ripped up box with damaged contents and received a refund anyway.
I usually offer free shipping and tracking and send out the item within 24 hours or next business day. Buyers recently, have expressed frustration and disappointment that merchandise was delayed (through respective shippers AFTER it was mailed) or due to holidays and Sunday...how are these things my fault?
I suggest rush shipping if they need in 2 days or overnight but they don't want to pay for it...we are not amazon...this is a side hustle...anyone else? Thanks for listening.

Many have the same rant and there are days what goes on here gets my goat - like today with all the listing glitches I'm experiencing - I went over to the other site I sell on and am listing there instead - that said - ALL the venues have problems.
You can see it in their forums if you look - same buyer problems, same postal problems ect… The lack of seller protection is my biggest concern with the problems I see here. TG - knock on wood - I've had 50-100 successful sales for each one that is a problem. It sometimes depends on what categories sellers sell in and sometimes sellers have to accept that risk or look for other things to sell in a category that attracts unethical buyers.
eBay's stance is we choose the delivery method - but none are perfect and you're just as apt to have a slow or missing package with USPS as you are with UPS or Fed EX - the only way to solve that would be to hand deliver it which we can't do.
If you have buyers that have scammed you - report them on Ebay, file a fraud case with the PO and an IC3 - both can be done online - keep the report numbers. We also suggest calling the police and asking them to make a report. Tell them you need it for insurance purposes. Keep that report number and then appeal the decision to Ebay - put in the report numbers and immediately call them so they can look at the case and all the work you did to prove the buyer took advantage of you. Often they will issue you a courtesy refund. Best of luck!

You might not be Amazon, but that is getting to be what the buyers expect.
I bet you catalog companies had the same attitude about their 3 to 4 week delivery.
where are they now?

What has happened?
eBay seems to have determined that a happy buyer is more important than a happy a seller.
eBay no longer seems to care why a buyer raises an issue with a seller, they only care that a buyer has raised an issue with a seller.
eBay seems to be taking the approach that if a seller attracts dispute for any reason, it is easier and cheaper to just get rid of the seller and his disputes than it is to investigate each dispute and assign blame.
