What happens when you receive a best offer during a promotion?

Hello everyone!

At present I have a "spend $75 and get 10% off" promotion running storewide. After starting this I received an offer for an item that is $229. I intend to counter the offer however I do not want the 10% discount to then apply AFTER my counteroffer. What happens in this case? Is an offer an offer is an offer and because that's what we - buyer & seller - agree to that's just what it is, meaning the accepted offer is excluded from any other promotions? Or will eBay apply the 10% discount at checkout should they accept my counteroffer?

Thank you kindly in advance for your knowledge. Have a safe weekend.

I don't know the actual answer, but I would make a counteroffer that assumes the 10% discount will still apply just to be on the safe side.

You could even mention it to the prospective buyer and say if that doesn't happen you will refund them the 10%

Make your counteroffer 10% higher

@lotis9 I was wondering myself recently about the combination of some of these promo & pricing features. Do as suggested above then come back and let us know what happens to the pricing if the buyer accepts the offer.

Edit for typo

Thank you everyone for responding. Unfortunately the offer expired right under my nose, mix up in the timing. I still plan to look into this further should it happen again and I will update this thread then.

Again, thank you. Have a great rest of your weekend.
