This is really bad. I can't get a hold of anyone. The help is not help, it is not even close. I have 2 buyers said it wasn't as described. One sent it back and it was fine, nothing wrong with it and another said it was misleading. I reported both buyers but I haven't heard anything back whatsoever and not sure what to do.
The phone numbers tell you to go to the online help. The help tells you nothing unless you are the buyer, which they protect, not the people that they are actually making the money off of.
I am ready to pull all my listings and say screw it. I am an actual reseller and still have over 3,000 things to list from when I had a brick and mortar retail store and I feel like I am just getting screwed by eBay.
I pretty much know that writing this isn't going to do anything and I know there are many of us dealing with the same thing but why are we dealing with it? I know Amazon cost more but after having to pay for returns when I shouldn't have, whats the difference.
If anyone has any info for me, that would be great but I feel I am just going to get replies of people agreeing with me. My heart goes out to the people deal with the same **bleep** I am.

You don't need to try and convince us. We are the "people agreeing with you", but we know eBay's nuances and are simply advising you how to move past it. Let us convince you... hang in there!

A top rated seller can refund up to 50% or less of the purchase price and request up to $6 of the return shipping amount if the buyer returns an item in not like condition or damaged or used if originally sold new.
This is your only other option than a strait up refund and eat it. I personally just refund if my item comes back as i sent it. But i also block that buyer snd report that buyer. I hope ebay deals with people who get reported on a lot for abusing the return system. I doubt they do but its all you got here.

Just roll the cost incurred into your relisting price. 12.99 now becomes 15.99 I see you do free shipping,
ebay is what it is, don't fight with the system.. ADAPT, IMPROVISE. OVERCOME

@gorillagamesoc wrote:Thank you for all the info. When you have an actual brick and mortar store you have control, here you don't. As I said in a reply before, all I want is to not pay for return shipping. That's it. They can return it but when they say there is something wrong with it just because they don't want to pay the return shipping, that's not right. And that is all I have asked for when I reported them.
I couldn't believe when I had heard that you can't give bad feed back to a buyer. How are we suppose to know if a buyer is a fraud or not? I know there is a lot of sellers that are but that doesn't mean all of us are but we get treated that way. And that isn't right. There has to be something that can be done. In the past I could at least call someone and talk something out with a CSR but now there is nothing. I am sure they are blaming it on covid but there are other companies still supporting their people. I did try Twitter, which I don't use and I never got a response.
I had to close my physical store because my mother and brother died within a few months of each other and I was the only one to take care of their property and homes. So now I have a storage unit full of video game stuff I have to get rid. My husband has a real job, so thankfully we are not relying on this for income but a storage unit costs money.
I guess I need more to vent more than anything. The thing that bothers me the most is we all accept this behavior from them and because of that they will always be like this and probably get worse. It isn't right and they shouldn't get away with it.
I am VERY sorry to hear about your loss. And that is a huge one. To have two in such a short period of time, well as you know better than many of us, it does a lot more than take your breath away. I sincerely hope things are starting to smooth out for you. 😘
As Ken explained, when a buyer files an INAD, you don't have an option to make the buyer pay return shipping. Ebay won't allow that. Sellers can only do it on a properly filed Buyer's Remorse return, but the key is properly filed. If they file it as an INAD with state it is a buyer remorse reason, that doesn't count.
On Ebay we have not been able to give negative FB to buyers in about 12+ years. Giving buyers negative FB is bad for business which is why it was stopped. It is not a good idea to publicly shame the customers. That is only going to backfire on the seller. While you may feel a little better by sticking it to the buyer a little, other buyers seeing that you are a seller willing to do that would likely turn away from buying your stuff and go elsewhere. Buyers that are terrific, but fear you may just have a bad day and you hit their account too. All kinds of reasons will come up. But in the end, good solid buyers would go elsewhere because of a policy of letting sellers leave negative FB. And who is to say the seller is even being accurate in what they say, their could be emotional too and not based in fact. Besides, what other site similar to Ebay do you know that allows for the public shaming of it's buyers. Oh and then there is the fact that most sellers don't review a buyer's FB before they purchase from them. So most sellers would be unaware of whatever their FB says until after the fact and only when there is a problem and the seller feels the need to look into the buyer a bit.
You will be fine. Like I said, most of your transactions will go off without any issues at all. Hang onto that. When you run into an problem, keep your business hat on and just deal with it. Don't take it as a personal attack on you. Just deal with it and move on. Your life will be much easier if you do.

I am not arguing with you guys, I am just trying to explain my situation. But I guess it doesn't matter because eBay is going to screw you no matter what.

@gorillagamesoc wrote:But the whole things is it is not a INAD, they are just using that so they don't have to pay return shipping. That is the whole thing. I am reporting the buyer because it is not what they say and there is even a choice to pick that says that. Why have that choice if they are not going to do anything about it?
Ebay isn't going to get involved with that either. The whole process is driven by the reason the buyer checks off on the check list of reasons for a return request. Ebay will not change that even if it is abundantly clear that the buyer really has a buyer's remorse reason. None of us likes this, but it is how it works. So getting frustrated over it will only cause you harm and do nothing good.
Now I do not mean to object to unfair policies of Ebay. Our voices need to be heard. I'm only saying for the health of your selling account. Process and move on.
Separately make sure your voice is heard. Ebay changed the return process to Simplified Returns in October of 2018. From that moment the return system has been a hot mess. Most seller rights were taken away and we are where we are today. Believe me, Ebay has heard me yelling about this all over the place. Unfortunately it has done no good, but to give up to me is worse. So I continue.

Awesome! So you should be eligible for the increased protections soon!
They aren't perfect, and you still might have occasional unfair cases where you're not protected. But in cases like this they would allow you to potentially receive the shipping vouchers, which is your main concern!

Not on everything. So keep that in mind too. The return process is a mess for all of us. So you are in GOOD company.
As to your issues in life. Well those are VERY hard to deal with and then add issues with your business here on Ebay, it can be very overwhelming at times to say the least.

It sucks, but nothing we can do about it if we want to sell here.
When a buyer files a false INAD, about all we can do is report the buyer for abusing the MBG.
If they get very many reports, they can loose their MBG option.
I know it doesn't help you, but it might help a seller in the future.
