What happened to immediate paypal payment?

I know there used to be an option to require immediate payment if paying with paypal.

Anyone know why eBay hid this option or did away with it and why and why?

Are you talking about a straight Auction listing?    Requiring immediate payment is only possible when the listing has a Buy It Now component thus it doesn't appear as an option on a straight Auction screen/form.

AFAIK, it's still on the fixed price listing form.  You may need to use the Advanced listing form instead of the simple form for it to show up, though.

As previously stated, it's not available an auction listing.  Possibly if you add the BIN it is, not sure, but again, the advanced form may need to be used.

It may be the option was there when you created the listing, but you just passed it by.  That is easy to do.  You could try to revise your listing to see if you can add that now.

Hope this helps!

In the Sell Your Item form, it's the checkbox immediately below the field where you specify the PayPal address to be used for receiving payments.

I could swear they used to have an immediate paypal payment option that was readily accessible and visible for any auction. Kind of makes sense, no? I've had winning bidders take 3+ days to pay me.

@csan2c, nope.  Only IF/WHEN you have a "Buy It Now" option on any type of listing (auction or fixed price.)

And no, it doesn't make sense to require immediate payment on an auction.  Think about it.

eBay's incremental bidding function will place proxy bids up to the bidder's maximum making it unnecessary for interested parties to have to constantly monitor items in which they have an interest. Consequently,  there's no need for anyone to sit around waiting/watching for an item to end so they don't.

It also can be several days between when a person places a bid and the auction finally closes.  Not unusual for someone to have completely forgotten they even placed a bid on an item.  Or, maybe they only log into eBay or check their email on an occasional basis, etc.

If they won, they're notified.  They have 48 hrs to pay. If you dont want to wait three days (or longer to get paid) or chase people around for the money, you could always set up the eBay Unpaid Item Assistant on your account which will automatically open an unpaid bidder case, notify the bidder they have four more days to pay or get a strike against their account, then close the case automatically on your behalf if the buyer doesn't come through.

Might save you some time and frustration if you don't want to add a Buy It Now component to your auctions.

The option to add IPR show up on auctions only if you add a "Buy it now" price.  It's not possible to add IPR to auctions or to accepted Best Offers due to the way that credit-card authorizations work.

Also, you have to use the "Advanced" (not Quick) version of the listing form.
