Since eBay took over payments, it seems like the "order details" page is the only thing showing the price paid, address, all that stuff, but USPS denied my claim and then denied my appeal, saying both times that they need proof of value and payment. That's exactly what I've been sending them and I have no idea what the hell else they could want or what would even be available to us. Any thoughts?

I have successfully filed claim with USPS and provided ORDER RECEIPT as proof.
Go to ORDERS
Click down arrow & select PRINT PACKING LIST & MORE
Click on ORDER RECEIPT (this has date item was shipping which proves transaction was completed)
Attach order receipt to your USPS case file.

The USPS has a policy of pretty much not paying any claim unless the item is lost in shipping. I no longer file insurance claims for damaged items as it's become a waste of time. It might be possible to get an insurance payment from the USPS if the buyer files the claim and provides the item to the USPS. Good luck!

I should have mentioned, it is for a missing item.

That looks perfect. I mean, same basic info as what I've been sending them, but it looks more official. Let's see if they try to wriggle out of this one, again.
Thanks!

They are not necessarily looking for what your item actually sold for but the market value of the item. I just finished up a successful claim with USPS for a damaged piece of art that I had sold and shipped. What I had sold the item for was less than the market value based information from several art gallery sites that had published/established values. I provided the information from several of those sites and had no issues with the claim other than the amount of time it took USPS to process it and get me a check.
If you are hitting a wall in trying to communicate through email call the USPS Claims center is St. Louis, MO.

So you are saying USPS is willing to give you MORE than you sold the item for ? Very interesting.

No they are not willing to give you more than you sold it for but they are not willing to pay you more than it is worth or what you can replace it for. It's a quasi form of scam protection. In fact when one of the options in the claims process offers you the ability to accept a lesser amount for the claim and will allow you to keep the item and have it repaired if you present them with a repair estimate from a reputable business. If they do pay you for the item their policy is they keep the item when it is taken to the USPS for inspection as part of the claim process.

I have had to file Claims with USPS very rarely ..but when I did.. I sent them a Screen
Shot of my eBay Listing showing a Photo of the Item...When it SOLD...and the Price...
They paid my claim within 2 weeks by Check.
I save all my Completed and Sold Listings in Archives so I can find them if I need them.
