What are "you"going to do differently "this" Christmas/Holiday Season?
1. Do not over promise on delivery date (s). It seems during the Christmas/Holiday season I get 5-6 buyers who buy at the very last minute and ask if I can get the item to them like yesterday. This year, if its not at least 3-4 days before Christmas without Sunday included, I will make no promises on delivery timelines, its too stressful.
2. Add more new items (Christmas/Holiday) gift type items to my listings. I am a very practical buyer and I personally like used/ vintage items to sell and to be gifted to me; however, I realize many people buying gifts are looking for new merchandise. So, I am going to try and add (Brand New) items to my inventory.
FYI,
Its less than (2) months before Christmas!!!!

Good point about the shipping situation. As we sell vintage watches, Christmas generally isnt a time where sales are high (slow into January). I always worry when a buyer has expectations about delivery dates and would rather decline a offer than see people disappointed. We live in Thailand and Christmas isn't a really big holiday. Just wishing we had a big butterball turkey to cook up!!!!!

I'll tell you what I am not doing for sure. I am not going out and buying hot toy inventory with an eye to selling it on ebay. After the last 2 years where ebay rstricted sales of hit items there's no point. My stats are perfect and I have been on the platform since 2003 yet when I tried to go hard on the hottest toys I was told I could only sell so many. Explanations ranged from their worry of knock-offs to them wanting everyone to have a chance to sell their share (lol ridiculous).
Ok no worries I just shifted focus & sold them elsewhere & doing that how much money did ebay make on my sales? $0 thats how much.

Make more eggnog than usual.
Appreciate loved ones, and the season, more than usual - and try to continue to.
Attempt to be patient and wait a little longer before putting up the tree.

A lot of my good stuff is not selling right now so I’m listing lots at a loss to get old stuff out of my inventory and house and use it as a tax deduction.

"I" am going to stop using "double quotes" for "emphasis."
(Sorry - could not resist)
(Actually that seems more like a New Year Resolution.)

Hopefully buy less.

I will announce, in big font red all caps at the top of my listings, probably around Thanksgiving, that my items will be available for two or less more weeks, never to be seen here again, so get while the getting is good.
I'm already priced well so will I run a sale with that announcement? TBD
I'm going to try to use less commas.

The same thing I do every year ,, try and take over the world ! 🙂 I just add more holiday theme jewelry to my listings which has already begun . I usually go an extra step or two and wrap the purchases in holiday theme gift bags with stickers ,, ribbons etc . Last year right after Christmas one of my buyers remarked it was like getting another gift to open . No difference in my handling time for the holidays . My stuff usually goes out the next business day regardless . Tulips

I've been on eBay since 1998 and the volume here is just a fraction of my company total. The timing comment reminded me: it's a good idea to offer your buyers 3 choices: slow, faster, express. I do this by using calculated shipping with a handling fee built in.
Don't get yourself unnerved by the stressed-out shoppers. If they select first class and send you a frantic message telling you that they've GOT TO have it in 3 days or else the baby's Christmas will be ruined? You calmly let her know that with the choice she made, it's impossible, but if she wants you to refund and repay with express, it can happen, as long as she carefully looks at the date the USPS promises for her zipcode.
Aggressive and frantic buyer freaking you out and making you feel upset? Understand that they're dumping on you to make themselves feel better, and don't accept it. Calmly write back with the reality, like "Thank you for your note. I understand the timing. We will be shipping today and you'll see the tracking in your order but we cannot make any guarantees about arrival time. Delivery is up to the USPS and they're swamped at the holidays. If you prefer that we refund before we ship, please let us know."
Back when I was in college in the 70's, on breaks I worked at a Lord & Taylor in a suburban mall. I saw these frantic people right in person. It's so much easier online, but you have to prepare yourself so that you don't buy into their hysteria and make yourself crazy. Know that you can only do what you can do.
Christmas falls on 12/25, dependably, every single year. Consider the old saying, "A failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine."
That said, I love the holiday volume. I prepare a lot. We get all stocked up with every type of shipping material, including paper for packing slips, thermal labels and more. If one postage program goes down, I have multiple ways to print - direct from Amazon or eBay, or via Paypal.com/ship now, or Paypal multi-order, or the one I use daily: stamps.com. I'm comfortable using all of them. Only a power outage would stop me. I have equipment at home and at the office to do the printing.
Prepare to take care of YOURSELF too! Plan some meals. If you celebrate the winter holidays, do your shopping for meals and gifts and decorations RIGHT NOW. Wrap gifts, make food and put it in the freezer, etc. Figure out how you're going to have nutritious meals and snacks during peak time, so you can keep on working.
Preparation can make a holiday rush really fun and exciting and now is the perfect time to get ready!!!

In General:
Continue to expand elsewheres.
Probably get rid of my stores here
Do more weekend shows
I am just not that impressed with ebay anymore.
Tired of all the glitches, tired of being told whats best for me by someone who obviously has never sold anything online before, and most certainely tired of this venue that wants to do nothing more than be a poor copy of a sucessful one and set me up to fail so they can charge me more money.
I am about done here.
