What IS it?

I sell automotive parts.  Exterior emblems and attachments, mostly.

I buy in bulk, I get a 55-gallon drum full of these items.

And, I got this in my last ship.

It is about 2.5 inches in diameter.  Heavy at about 8oz, all metal.

There is a moveable slide across the top, at about 1 o'clock.  It snaps when it fully slides and returns automatically to the original position.

When I take the back off ... it is evident that it's been wet.  But, when the slide thingy does it's thing there is a spark that is visible.

So ... what the heck IS IT?

What IS it?

Yup.

That's what it is.

Trash.   No good even as parts ...

I might put it up for $9 or so, but it's heavy so will cost another $9 to ship.

Trash.

Thanks.   Good spot.

How did you find that?   I searched pretty deep, and I'm usually pretty good at this.

Where was it?   How did you find it?

It is a Carroo brand belt buckle lighter that has lost its belt buckle. It clips into a custom made belt buckle and you pop it out when needed.

I had no idea that there was an urgent need for belt buckles with lighters in them but there you are. 😊

I thought it looked like a lighter, so I googled raiders football lighter and the first sponsored item under the images tab was that listing

Since it's a lighter, make sure you adhere to hazmat guidelines both for shipping and eBay policy.

Lighters that may contain fluid (and you indicated yours does because it's wet) are nonmailable without prior approval.

From one of the USPS links above:

The following are some specific types of nonmailable gases:

- Cigarette Lighters (NA1057). Generally, lighters charged with fuel and having an ignition system or any similar heating, lighting, or ignition device are a Class 3 flammable liquid and are nonmailable. However, if an approval number is obtained from DOT, consideration for mailing may be requested from the director, PCSC, under the provisions in 343.25.

Pop it into Google Lens next time. I see 2 of them on the page of results, approx halfway down.

@chariot_badges;

Maybe the buckle half is somewhere in that 55 gal drum you got.

Yea, I will hang on to it for a while to see, but without the buckle half I think I'll toss it.

It's not really what I do anyway.

When I took the back off I didn't see a hole for butane, didn't see a tank for the butane either.

I would list it anyway if it will at least spark when you press the trigger. People are more likely to lose the lighter than the buckle if theirs pops off while they are wearing it.

The big white plastic box looks like the heart of it. There is a button cell visible that might charge a capacitor to fire the ignitor when the user presses the trigger and that will release the butane at the same time. You can see the nozzle and the ignitor wire right next to it so if you follow the nozzle back to the butane tank (probably part of the white plastic block) you should see a filler valve someplace.
