Hi. It seems I am late to this party; Ive read a few threads on this issue but still no clarity and I spoke with eBay so I am very confused.
Once upon a time, auto relist for free, and no relisting fees for that 8 times it did relist for free happened.
Very suddenly this month for me, that all changed, and a phone call to eBay said every auto relist counted as ONE of the selling numbers, so it did have a fee if you went through your allotted amount. It never used to be this way. Thats how I was able to list many things in a month because each listing lasted about 8 weeks. Now, I will blow through that 250 limit in what...a matter of days? Unless I go to all fixed price listings for all but a few?
What does everyone else think?
Oh. And I lost my Top Rated seller status because I had pneumonia. Late shipping. ALL my buyers knew this and were fine with the delay; eBay can really restore faith in humanity as some people are so very nice. EBay rejected my appeals, even with my X Ray report; eBay can really make one pessimistic about mankind when it operates without mercy or pity.
Have a great day, all.

The auto-relist is gifted to new sellers to help them gain traction. After a certain point, the free perk lapses - you've probably passed that point.
Top rated is just a level based on several metrics. eBay is huge and doesn't really have an appeals department for this - it would be a nightmare trying to make as many exceptions to the metrics as would be demanded, plus there's no way to sort out real issues (yours) from scams (others).
I used to lose top rated every time I shut down for the summer because I wouldn't make the $$ level. It made no difference whatsoever in my sales when I started back again, and I wouldn't even notice it had returned probably until a month or so after it did.
Just be happy you're over that pneumonia and have your health back, and keep going and the TRS will come back!

Personally, I don't see why they would treat auctions any different then fixed price listing?
If our listings don't sell the first round, we don't get any free listings for it.

@kensgiftshop It is odd. You would think they would WANT more auctions as potentially if an item is bid up, eBay gets more revenue. But their model pushes people to fixed price listings and I hate that. The uncertainty of auctions is one thing that made auctions so much fun, and eBay too.
Ah well.

The thing is, fixed price runs for 30 days, auctions at the most only run for 10 days. And many of them don't get traction on the first time. I actually think eBay is trying to encourage new sellers to use auctions by giving 8 tries to sell.

Auctions are not as popular as they were years ago.
Now days, people want their items yesterday and don't want to wait a week to see if they win, when they can go to another seller and just buy it and probably have it by the time your auction is over.
Looking at you your auctions, all but two only received one bid, that should tell you something.
Auctions are good for rare, hard to find items, but not so much for every day items.

@kensgiftshop Hi...thanks for your reply. How did you do that, though? I had no idea there was a way to look at another sellers past history of bids and sales? Thanks in advance for teaching me something new.
LOL. I have a hard time determining whether or not my vintage jewelry is so rare and hard to find...as I am so addicted to it. It is good that my addiction to buying jewelry is countered by my equal addiction to selling it 🙂

Click View Listing under your ID, then on the left side, click Sold Items in the menu.
I don't mess much with jewelry, but sometimes it's hard to tell if an item is pretty rare or worth anything.
I know most sellers want to get as much as they can for an item, but me, I mainly do it to have something to do, since I can't work, so as long as I get what I want, I'm fine with it.

@kensgiftshop I am the same way; I am disabled and eBay gives me something to do and I enjoy the creative outlet of the photography. I hope for whatever reason you can not work, you have no pain and no suffering.

Why?
It's a perk for new sellers (you know the ones that some people claim eBay is trying to get rid of).
