What Can eBay Explain to Me For No Sales for a Whole Week?

I am beginning to think  a lot is not well in this platform,  what can eBay explain to me for no sales for a whole week? I remember how eBay marketed her managed platform to be one  of the best things  in the whole world. It is very clear  I am  yet to experience the best of managed payment.  There is nothing best here if I am not selling or  I am picking crumps  under the table when I  got  the capacity to eat nice meal. If eBay don't   want sellers to be selling individual items, let them inform us. We can all go to China and be importing  whatever we see there. Please let no one reply that the poster is complaining, I find that very disrespectful when  I am saying facts and  an  ignorant  seller or a clout chaser is saying that I am complaining. So if something is not going right I should keep quiet and be saying "All is Well".  Any day eBay starts performing, I will be the first to say it and make it loud.

The sales tax and increased shipping fees are hurting, but EBAY has been doing a very good job of scaring away the browsing buyer with a variety of recent search and category changes.

I think that's true .The constant changes are confusing for everyone  and  the kinks in the system when trying to list items doesn't  help either . I've made a lot more sales and increased my profits needless to say  when I stopped relying only on e bay .

There's no doubt the recent rise of inflation  is making a drastic difference in  the amount of money  people can spend  here and everywhere else . When pork products like bacon are now ten dollars a pound and gasoline is close to five dollars a gallon [ at least in our area  it is ] it certainly does have a negative impact on the consumer  .

What is eBay facilitating if its not sales? Point of correction , the solution to online sales  on eBay does not solely lie on individual sellers on eBay. It lies on sellers and eBay, both parties are involved.  The fact is that sales on eBay lies more on eBay because eBay made all the policies guiding her platform , eBay sellers did not contribute to those policies.  All those cliché  that  sales depends solely on sellers is fallacious.

Can you further explain how "this update affected buyers in a big way"?

I can see how some changes could have been upsetting for sellers, but how have they affected buyers?

So many changed categories and the way you need to search now is confusing especially to buyers who are not as savvy as some.

I only ever use the big search bar now, actually inputting the category I want (rather than try to locate the category under category) and then refine and search from there.

Trouble is,  lot of buyers wouldn't do it that way as they are unaware of the changes and just think Search is useless now or broken.

The worst part, was that the category and IS updates did not only affect the categories they were working on, a he11 of a lot were mashed up because of the associated glitches.

Totally none of my business, but do you get many return requests for wrong size ? I only ask because my shoe size seems to be different depending on what shop/brand I purchase (only ever at BM store so I can try on)

I have to search through tons of crap in certain categories now and the more item specifics I use the less chance I have of finding what I collect. Its that simple.

What Can eBay Explain to Me For No Sales for a Whole Week?

Hi I absolutely am experiencing the same. I sell books ( a difficult item) to begin with. I've continued to list more and more books after reading most of the suggestions in the community. I have lowered the prices I can afford to lower respectively. I cannot afford to accept bids that do not cover my expense. I do mostly accept all bids within reason.  200 books to 650 books ... zero views, more than 20% of my inventory. The decline in traffic is disturbing.  My listings take time or I take careful consideration regarding the content and items I list. I  photograph each book, several pictures are displayed for each listing, I describe the condition and the book in detail and complete as many item specifics I can. I have made changes recommended by others to others on this platform, I no longer sell a book a week. Meaning I pay eBay not to sell my books. The last time this happened I gave up my store subscription. I promised myself the month I dont cover the $25.00 basic charge, close acct. As covid killed my conservatorship repairing and restoring books on Palm Beach, things have slipped here too.  I have called eBay on several occasions without meaningful help from customer service   stay positive, your listings are great. A cheerleader is appreciated, I can use a helping hand. I dont own electronics to sell. I own books. I welcome advice. I dont have the overhead to pay for additional charges. 15% of my sale seems sufficient. When I ask a question to say thriftbooks or betterworld books like does the book come w/dust jacket. The answer is we sell thousands of books a day and do not have the staff to check. If you buy the  book brand new you will get the dust jacket. ok. thousands of books a day? Felt worse after the inquiry. I dont know about platforms or broken platforms. Knowledge is power, I'll make necessary changes with sound experienced suggestions. Again I've called for help, written for help without notice or response. I came here before I closed my subscription. The word social media gives me headache and I did breakdown and tried opening a facebook page for the marketplace from the link here. I did experience and have had a noticable decline in customer views.  The holidays are here without a pick-up of people looking. Usually my sales have already jump started, today no luck. again. I can not afford to sell collectible first editions for $3.00. In order not to lose more money I start at $8.00 minus at least $3.00 shipping and fees...breaking even hurts too.  Suggestions are welcome

Thank You.

respectfully

rose

Your correct. Most of the internal changes have been less than efficient. There are more exchanges needed to get to the same place. Logic out the window, data analysis ignored. I notice the usage of words are used quite a bit and do not reflect the excepted definition, so where's the glossary? Like ... 'organic view' ? Dictionaries lack the definition. Being "hip" is good to a point. How about being clear and concise and to the point Quickily with experienced  communication? It's not funny, frustrating is more general result. What makes a view organic? If its the difference between human views and bot views just say so. Explain words or phrases not described in dictionaries or the English language. Not all of us are "hip" any longer, educated Yes, reason I had to go to a dictionary. wasting my time isnt good without sales. Looking at charts ... oh brother.

Yes, I love economics. The problem isn't in the economic realm. It's in the programming and algorithmic instruction. Ebay creates the procedure or formula for solving eBay's goals. The algorithm is conducting a sequence of specified actions to reach the goal. Sellers are involved here although we have go where instructed by eBay. Visibility has EVERYTHING to do with where we end up. Visibility has lots to do with sales. Make your product enticing with the visibility your creativity can sell your product. Now...you can be the most creative human there is ... without a place in the great scheme of algorithms your screwed, like many of us. I see promoted listings; I see many duplicate listings so many more than before. I see large stores with the overhead to purchase the extra products eBay sells us to sell items. The big stores have the floor. The sellers that pay the most fees have the floor are written into the instruction. Like that. Economics, Ill leave that to galbraith and ricardo, hayek and friedman, rothman just a few,  today.

You have no science to back that up

I’m a 20 year seller/user and stopped shopping by category 15 years ago. Never did use the left side drill downs.

I miss too much interesting stuff, and would rather stick to simple KW searches.

Searching for anything on eBay has turned into a variation of the Uber eats site.  Do you take your time scrolling your way down or do you just pick the first thing you like near the top?

The only thing that will explain it all to me, that makes any sense at all, is if we found out........

the CEO was really an Amazon spy that filtered in and sabataged the whole site

so it would crumble.    The business decisions over the last 5 years are head scratchers to say the least.

and the constant rediculous updates.......When will it end?  When Amazon buys them out?

I've been here since 1999 and never once have I searched by category-- always keywords. I'm not interested in scrolling through hundreds or even thousands of listings to find what I'm looking for when a simple keyword search can narrow it down to what I actually want to see.
