Went to print a shipping label and received a notice about an invalid address.....please review

Hi all.   So, this is the first time I have had this happen,   The sale was made yesterday and I went to print the postage this morning and the address is at issue.  I have reached out to the buyer, showing him the screen shot, instructing him that he would have to amend his address through the system and I could attempt to re-issue the postage but if he is unable to get it fixed before 2:30 today I would have to cancel the sale due to a problem with the address.   I told him this was due to the fact that I have a one day handling time and if I did not ship the item out (due to an address issue) It would be a ding on my account.

As i said, I just messaged him about it.    Is this all I should do?   Screenshot attached. thanks5019CBB1-627B-4177-8617-20B55F593F42.png

The first line is too long; there's a limit on the number of characters.  The buyer can't change it after  the payment has been submitted.  Try taking  few letters out of "interconnect" .

Furthering my research about the address itself, it appears that the top floors of that bui8lding are for rental. It further appears that REGUS is a rental company. This is a 225 tech gadget. I am wondering about the legitimacy of the purchase.

Buyer can not change their address once payment has been made.

Not sure what the problem is, but it may be the # of characters per line.

You can try to abbreviate without changing the overall address to see if that corrects it.

Yikes, then just go straight to the cancellation due to "Problem with address." And be sure to save the screen shot as proof.

Dont send to the incorrect address.  Have them try to fix it before you send.   Best regards

The reason why it's not working is because there is a 40 character limit per line.

You can edit it and it should be okay (even though it will tell you it might be ineligible for seller protection).  In order to be cover against an INR,  you just need a ZIP match showing delivery.

If you feel uncomfortable, you can always just buy your label through PayPal independently (not through the transaction) and upload the tracking number to eBay.

I'd label it:

Interconnect USA

c/o REGUS Jorge Fernandez, 8th Floor

or something like that

I suppose I will wait until/if I hear back from the buyer to see what he says.    If you are all telling me that I can change the shipping address and not lose my protections, I am willing to do that.    The sticky is keeping my protections and I am green on this having never encountered it before.

The address that was attached when the PayPal payment was made cannot be accessed or changed by the buyer.

What if you purchased your label at the counter?  How would eBay/PayPal know that you put the right address in?  They wouldn't, but if the ZIP matches, you'd win an INR.

So yes, you can change it as the actual address hasn't changed... it's just being rearranged.

But as I said, if you are remotely uncomfortable doing it through eBay or the actual PP transaction (because of the non-eligible warning you'll see), go to

https://www.paypal.com/shiplabel/create/

It'll ask you to log in and then direct you right to the Ship To Address input popup (which you have to fill out before it will let you do anything else - at least it does that to me)

If you're TRS, you just won't get the CommPlus rates - only the CommBase.  It's a pittance in actual postage - but you do lose the extra insurance coverage and only get the basic "up to $50"

Edit:  Just don't forget to upload the tracking information manually.

I have had trouble with rental properties before -  A buyer was on vacation and had the item delivered to the Rental Property where was staying and the Post Man wouldn't deliver it and it came back as "Improper Address".   Of course she was upset - but I took a picture of the stamp on the package by the Post office and she changed her tune and Paid for Postage for the item to be re-sent to her Real Address.

I also think you should just cancel the sale and make sure you save the screenshot -  I also have one day turnover - so time is of the essence.  Good Luck.

To be clear, you are not changing the address, just correcting it. eBay/PayPal allow some really sloppy addresses to be stored, followed by problems later on when the seller tries to print the address for a shipment and finds that USPS can't digest the format.

The first line length is your problem, as others have already pointed out, and the other address elements can use a little reordering, but not much is required.

Your first line can be the company name, as it is already shown. Put the "c/o" and everything following that on the second line. The actual street address is reformatted by USPS to be one straight line: 5201 BLUE LAGOON DR FL 8 (i.e. Street address comes first; the floor designation follows it, and it all fits on one line). City and State are unchanged, and the ZIP+4 designation for your location is 33126-7050.

You can verify all this yourself on the USPS.com ZIP code help page at https://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookupAction_input

Ugh.  I just heard from the buyer.  I think I have it tweaked and can send it out.   (Waiting for his response)

However, it just occurs to me.   He has verified his address in the email I have tweaked it and sent it back for his approval to satisfy character line spaces, etc.

How long before we both receive the warning about communicating outside of EBAY or whatever that robot sniffer searches for?   Can this be circumvented?

Since the sale has already transpired, I don't think you'll get the warning.

Lots of buyers send address change requests through messages after purchase.  If it was prior, then eBay thinks you're taking it off site.
